Following a few hints from showrunner Eric Kripke, it was announced late last year that The Walking Dead alum Jeffrey Dean Morgan had officially joined the cast of The Boys for its upcoming fourth season, but we still have no idea who he'll be playing.

While his character remains a mystery, Black Noir actor Nathan Mitchell did tease Morgan's "badass" role during an interview with The Movie Dweeb.

"I would say his sun sign is badass, and his moon sign is You don’t even want to f-cking know," said Mitchell when asked if he could share any new details. "I don’t know how much can be revealed about that character, but I think the coolest thing about this show is we’re always going in different directions, and showing you different storylines and different characters in ways you wouldn’t expect. So I think that Jefferey Dean Morgan is going to play a role that stays with fans for a long time."

Morgan is the only new cast addition whose character wasn't revealed up-front, which has led to speculation that he might actually be playing a new take on Black Noir! The silent, lethal member of The Seven was killed-off in the season 3 finale when Homelander discovered that his friend had been keeping the truth about Soldier Boy from him, but set photos have confirmed that someone else will be suiting-up as Noir in season 4.

Another possibility is a Batman/Iron Man parody known as Tek Knight, who - despite some unconventional sexual proclivities - was one of the only Supes to take a moral stance and behave in a genuinely heroic manner in the comics.

Season 4 plot details are a mystery for now, but we do know that other new recruits will include Susan Heyward as Sister Sage and Valorie Curry as Firecracker. We also learned that Cameron Crovertti (Ryan) has been upped to series regular, which is hardly surprising after the sinister final shot of season 3.

During a recent interview with Collider, Kripke confirmed that Ryan will be focal point of the fourth season.

"Moving forward, Ryan is a really important part of it. Both Butcher and Homelander have very good reasons to fight over Ryan because the stakes could not be higher. If Ryan goes Homelander's way and then there are two Homelanders in the world, then that's a nightmare for the planet. If Butcher can get Ryan into the light, then that's probably actually the best weapon they have against Homelander. It's always been a show about family, and so much of Season 3 was about fathers, so I think it makes sense that Season 4 is about sons."

Ryan already seems to have chosen "Homelander's way," but that doesn't mean he's beyond saving. Butcher made a major mistake by pushing the easily-influenced youngster away in the false belief that he'd be safer without such a fatalistic father figure in his life, but this completely backfired when Victoria Neuman gave Homelander his son's location.

Have they already confirmed who's playing Groundhawk? If not, then JDM needs to play him.

But...Noir is dead, and comic book Noir was...dumb.

Anyway, he should play Soldier Boy's dad, not only because of the meta joke, but because they also kinda teased him in season 3.

Man I'm glad the Supernatural cast is appearing on this. I'm hoping Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki make an appearance.

Whoever he’ll play it’ll be awesome.

I really like this show.

It freaks me out & sometimes grosses me out, but I don't care. I am going to binge watch the 1st 3 seasons just to pick up stuff I may have drunkenly missed.

If I had to see Gusto & Bigfoot fighting it out for 1st place in the naked limbo finals at the Hillsdale mixer, I can handle anything this show does.

If he's Tek Knight that would be amazing. I can totally hear him delivering that filthy dialogue with the shrink.
