THE BOYS Actress Dominique McElligott On Queen Maeve's Redemption & Possible Season 3 Arc

Could we see Queen Maeve emerge as an actual hero in Season 3 of The Boys?

Maeve seemed to have pretty much checked out when we first met her back in Season 1, fully aware of all the heinous shit Vought and The Seven were perpetrating, but too jaded to care. It was only when Homelander allowed a plane full of people to crash that she began to consider stepping in, and ended up using that information to put a leash (temporarily, at least) on the psychotic supe in the Season 2 finale (check out our recap HERE).

The character certainly appeared to step on to the path towards redemption when she helped Butcher, Starlight and the others in their battle against Homelander and Stormfront, but will it be business as usual for the Queen when we catch up with her in Season 3?

Here's what Dominique McElligott had to say about Maeve's arc during an interview with EW.

"To me, everything about Maeve and what she does, and what she says, is so raw and so on the nose that it can be very much perceived as distasteful," said the Irish actress. "But that's what I really love about her journey, is that it's a do-or-die situation. Is she going to find redemption? Is she going to not only survive but thrive (to sound really fricking cheesy)? But really just thrive in a sense of going forward, like is that possible for Maeve? Is it out there for Maeve? Is she that far gone? You don't know. We have to hope that there's maybe a happy ending for Maeve...If we haven't read the comic books. We're just going to pretend we haven't read the comic books."

If you have read the comics, you'll know that things don't exactly work out for Maeve - although the show has been playing fast and loose with the source material, so we have no reason to believe she will meet the same fate on the small screen.

What do you guys think? Will Maeve ultimately side with The Boys to take on her former team?

I love Gadot, but Queen Maeve makes a better Wonder Woman than Wonder Woman.

@RageDriver2401 - How? Its not even comparable.

I actually wish they made Maeve more powerful and drew a little more from Wonder Woman, like they do with Homelander and Superman.

The actress is good and there's something there, but I want more from her.

I think this season was a bit worse than the previous one, but some scenes are still pure perfect.

We'll probably never see a superhero this bloody in either Dc or Marvel.
