Deadline is reporting that up-and-comers Shane Paul McGhie (DeputyGreenleaf), Aimee Carrero (Elena of AvalorYoung & Hungry) & Maddie Phillips (SupernaturalTeenage Bounty Hunters) have joined the cast of Amazon Prime Video's upcoming The Boys spinoff.

The trio will play young superheroes on the college-set series, joining the previously cast Jaz Sinclair (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina; The Vampire Diaries) and Lizze Broadway (BonesHere and Now).

The potential series, which is reportedly nearing a formal green light, hails from The Boys executive producer Craig Rosenberg, who penned the pilot. It's being described as "an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire and raunch of The Boys."

Rosenberg will also serve as showrunner on the new series with The Boys creator Eric Kripke on board as an executive producer with additional EPs from the parent series, as well as Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Neal H. Moritz, amongst others.

While not directly based on The G-Men from Garth Ennis' comic books of the same name, Kripke recently confirmed that the series would, at least, be partially inspired by the controversial superteam.

I'm getting the feeling this is going to be a lot like "Skins" in the Boys universe.
Students fighting for becoming branded superheroes while at the same time banging each other all over the place.

This could certainly work for the universe they're telling it in, having company agents scout for the best upcoming heroes they could sell to the public.

@Blergh - I wonder how much of an impact the show will allow Homelander to be. Because as it stands every hero want to be in the Seven and those who aren't are intimidated by Homelander or look up to him. I wonder if Homelander will play any kind of role in this.

@Kadara - It should be. Too many people let others dictate what they do, say, and think; although, I'm not suggesting jerking off on the city! 😜

I enjoy the boys but it's not a strong enough series to spin off. They should safe any interesting plots they are developing for the main series to keep it interesting and prevent it from being cancelled .

I think the target audience for this show there trying to tap into is the CW(Vamp Diaries)/FREEFORM(The Fosters)/Euphoria crowd. I see a lot of people on here saying it won't work, but I think it will for the target audience this is intended for. Of course, it will have the BOYS allure to it and what not, but I get a sense this is the type of thing Kripke & Carver had in mind in a way for that SUPERNATURAL spinoff that never got a chance on CW instead of that BS Vamp Diaries spinoff LEGACIES

This is what's called unnecessary, oversaturation of the genre.

Going to pass this. I guess this more like a soft porn young and teenage superheroes parody.

I'm mildly intrigued by this.

I mean we can all agree that the Boys is great. But that's not just for the story and the universe, but mostly because of the characters in it.
