Deadline is reporting that up-and-comers Shane Paul McGhie (Deputy; Greenleaf), Aimee Carrero (Elena of Avalor; Young & Hungry) & Maddie Phillips (Supernatural; Teenage Bounty Hunters) have joined the cast of Amazon Prime Video's upcoming The Boys spinoff.
The trio will play young superheroes on the college-set series, joining the previously cast Jaz Sinclair (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina; The Vampire Diaries) and Lizze Broadway (Bones; Here and Now).
The potential series, which is reportedly nearing a formal green light, hails from The Boys executive producer Craig Rosenberg, who penned the pilot. It's being described as "an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire and raunch of The Boys."
Rosenberg will also serve as showrunner on the new series with The Boys creator Eric Kripke on board as an executive producer with additional EPs from the parent series, as well as Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Neal H. Moritz, amongst others.
While not directly based on The G-Men from Garth Ennis' comic books of the same name, Kripke recently confirmed that the series would, at least, be partially inspired by the controversial superteam.
