THE BOYS Spinoff Focusing On A College For Young Superheroes In The Works At Amazon

The massive popularity of Amazon's The Boys has led to the announcement of a spinoff series, but it doesn't sound like any familiar faces will feature, as the show will be set at a college for supes...

F*cking diabolical!

A spinoff seems almost inevitable when a show reaches a certain level of success, and The Boys is no different. The trades report that Amazon has been developing a sister-show set at a Vought International-run college for young adult supes for a while, but it's now being fast-tracked.

The untitled, R-rated series is being written by executive producer Craig Rosenberg, and is described as "part college show and part Hunger Games, [it] follows the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities."

So, doesn't sound like any members of Butcher's crew or The Seven will feature to any great extent, but we might still see a guest appearance or two.

Like the other major streaming services, Amazon doesn't share detailed viewing figures for its shows, but reports indicate that season two of the satirical comic book adaptation had the most watched global debut ever for an Amazon original series.

The sixth season 2 episode of The Boys, "The Bloody Doors off," hits Amazon tomorrow, you can check out an extended promo for that below.

Neat! I’m not one for spinoffs but we’ll see if this can keep the hot streak that The Boys is on, going. Sidenote: I stopped watching the promos for the new episodes; they’re pretty spoilery and we only get one episode a week this time! There’s not much new stuff to watch I’m trying to savor this season.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - Same, can’t wait for tomorrow, also watching Lost for the first time, in S3, it gets frustrating at times but overall I like it. It never knows what it wants to be and that’s ok.

@TheWalkingCuban - Nice, I never started Lost. Newest thing I watched recently was the Devil All the Time on Netflix; that was pretty great.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - what’s it about? “The devil” when? “All the time”

No seriously what’s it about

It places the Spin-Off at the time when Frederick Vought created the first supers, the "master race" and the training of them.

At the moment I am very mixed about this. Depending what happens later on the story of the show I could change my mind.

But as of now I'm more focused and excited about tonight's episode.

This might be a cool segue into the G-Men or Teenage Kix. Or just other super stuff in general.

Not wild about this from that synopsis... it kind of makes it feel like everything that “The Boys” do can’t amount to much as long as this other show keeps going.

Maybe this is a hot take but I'm tired of this blatant cashgrab approach in which the second something is successful they announce spin-offs and try to create a MCU-type franchise.
I get it: ultimately they're in it for the money and I have no problem with that. However, more often than not what they end up doing is diluting the audience's love for the main property and create fatigue instead of going all out on a single show/movie and making it as good as possible. I already think season 2 of The Boys is very enjoyable yet a step-down from the first one and more generic in execution.

@SwampThing - Yep, like my reply being a spin-off to your comment. Great comment btw, what is this Fear the Walking Dead? Don’t nobody even Watch the Walking Dead, now that would be a show. Find who still watches it!

I’m picturing this as “Blue Mountain State” with superpowers and now I will be disappointed if that isn’t what we get and also if Alan Ritchson isn’t involved.

Can't blame Amazon for trying. It's one of the 3-4 shows on their shitty streaming site that's worth a damn.

A spin-off of The Boys seems to go against what the show aims to satirize. The entire series is a brutal mockery of superhero related media amongst other themes. But who knows? This could be meta and poke fun at it being a spin-off. So far it sounds like a Hard R version of Sky High.

TheWalkingCuban - 9/24/2020, 5:43 PM
@MovieMonster - maybe they’ll satirize it before they even profit from it, show a commercial of “The Kids” before some “Butcher attack”

They better have something pretty special in mind, cause otherwise it sounds like the network version of a cable hit show.

Meh, be better to do something else. Something standalone and keep the writing good
