The Expanse officially returns with its fourth season this December, and to celebrate, Amazon Prime Video has released the official trailer for Season 4. The critically acclaimed sci-fi series will make its debut on Amazon Prime after having been rescued following Syfy cancelling the series last year after three seasons. The first three seasons are currently available for streaming on Amazon.

As fans may remember, the third season ended with an epic finale in which James Holden (Steven Strait) saves humanity from itself and the Ring, leading to 1300 other ring portals appearing to humanity. As Holden then notes, this newfound  access to a wealth of potential habitable systems will lead to "another blood-soaked gold rush" as mankind wages a new war over resources, one which may destabilize Earth, Mars, and the Belt.

The upcoming season will adapt the fourth of The Expanse novels, Cibola Burn, which largely took place on Ilus. This planet, which resides in one of the new inhabitable systems, has previously been described as "the battleground of new settlers, security forces and the protomolecule in The Expanse Season 4."

Check out the official trailer and a new poster for Season 4 of The Expanse below.

The Expanse begins a new chapter for the series with the crew of the Rocinante on a mission from the U.N. to explore new worlds beyond the Ring Gate. Humanity has been given access to thousands of Earth-like planets, which has created a land rush and furthered tensions between the opposing nations of Earth, Mars and the Belt. Ilus is the first of these planets, one rich with natural resources, but also marked by the ruins of a long dead alien civilization. While Earthers, Martians, and Belters maneuver to colonize Ilus and use its natural resources, these early explorers don’t understand this new world and are unaware of the larger dangers that await them.

The Expanse Season 4. features:
Steven Strait as James Holden
Cas Anvar as Alex Kamal
Dominique Tipper as Naomi Nagata
Wes Chatham as Amos Burton
Frankie Adams as Bobbie Draper
Shohreh Aghdashloo as Chrisjen Avasarala
Cara Gee as Drummer
David Strathairn as Klaes Ashford
Thomas Jane as The Investigator
Burn Gorman as Adolphus Murtry

Season 4 of The Expanse will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on December 13 and will consist of 10 episodes, all of which will be released at the same time.

I was pretty disappointed with Tiamat's Wrath, the story will be resolved too quickly in the last book imo.
