Season 2 of The Walking Dead debuts Oct. 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.

The second season of AMC's television series The Walking Dead is scheduled to premiere on October 16, 2011 and will feature 13 episodes. The series is based on the series of graphic novels of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard; it was developed for television by Frank Darabont (now fired), who will serve as executive producer for the second season along with Robert Kirkman and Glen Mazzara.

Too bad AMC has slashed this shows budget in half, and the guy responsible for the first seasons awesomeness has left the show because of it.

@Deadshot- That's not necessarily a bad thing. Kirkman's still closely involved with it, which means the story shouldn't suffer at all. Plus, the zombies still look just as good, so the makeup effects don't seem to have taken a hit either. Don't know if you've read the comic, but this show really doesn't need a big budget to be done right. With any luck, this just means that we'll have less distractions like the CDC garbage from last season, and it'll hopefully start following more closely to the comics.

@TheBatman1- Looks like that was a hospital in the background, but it certainly could have been at the prison! That would be awesome, but I'm still hoping they don't find it until the very last episode this season. Spend some time with Tyrese and Hershel's farm, and then all of season 3 (maybe 4, too) can be devoted entirely to the prison arc! They need to get us invested in all the characters (especially Tyrese and Hershel) before beginning they find the prison.

Apparently the AMC heads want at least half of every episode shot in interiors now, in the comics they were almost always outside, until they got to the prison.

obviously i did read the book you douches. or did you guys forget the whole carl shooting shane in the neck part? maybe you guys havent read the comics. im just trying to ruin the show for everyone thats all. cant wait for season 2!!!

AMC has a bonafide hit on their hands and what happens? The suits come in and ruin everything. Lets fire Darabont and slash the budget... great idea morons. You couldve at least waited a couple seasons. Now you almost certainly destroyed your hit show.
Hope it fails miserably damn suits. Then gets picked up elsewhere

Game of Thrones and Walking Dead... Greatest TV ever. Battlestar Galactica would be right up their with them if they hadnt screwed the pooch in the finale. OK yeah....Firefly was great too....got cheated on that one.

I watched Weeds up until this season and it now officially sucks. Even on its best episode it doesnt even come close to those i named above. Breaking Bad...Yeah. Weeds was....WAS....good junk food but its gone afoul.
