During a recent set visit, the site Bloody Disgusting paid witness to some of the most disturbing, blood drenched carnage that they've ever seen created for a TV show. That show? AMC's upcoming (this October) - The Walking Dead. Based on a comic from mastermind Robert Kirkman, the show is breaking boundaries, bones, and not skimping on the gore. Despite not being able to drop F bombs as we've known for quite some time, the show isn't limited in its violence factor.

Comic series creator Kirkman can't believe it either, "The stuff that AMC is going to put on air is crazy," he says. "They keep showing me things and I’m like, you’re not doing that."

Speaking of (minor spoiler alert ahead) - remember the horse scene I talked about a while ago? So does Kirkman--even he can't believe how far the envelope is being pushed.

"They rip a horse open and there’s just spaghetti coming out," says Kirkman. "They actually have things that you see."

Effects artist Greg Nicotero also showed his enthusiasm for the scene, "You see the pale, discolored hands going in and then coming out red." said Nicotero on the zombies eating their delicious horse.

Bloody Disgusting saw shots of the scene and in one word, described it as "brutal." The scene shows, everything you can imagine.

The show which is being shot on Super 16 mm is going for a gritty look. In one of the scenes at the hospital, more gore is ever present. Bloody Disgusting described the shot of a dead nurse in horrific detail, "Her body is totally massacred, blood streaked and splattered all around her, a dark pool around her corpse. Some of her ribs are exposed and all that remains of one leg is a bloody stump."

So is all of this stuff going to end up in the finished show? Director Frank Darabont and AMC producer Gale Ann Hurd say that everything you see - is what you get. Gross. But so very awesome.

Oh yeah - forgot to mention - the role of Morgan was also revealed in the set visit. The part will be played by Lennie James (TV's Jericho. His son Duane was already cast and other actors were rumored but Bloody Disgusting revealed that Duane's father is none other than this guy.

With Frank Darabont directing, Gale Ann Hurd producing, and great casting choices all around (Michael Rooker = Awesome!), this show can't possibly fail.

The gore is a plus.

Fantastic. 'Bout time we got a good horror series that wasn't afraid to show the gore.

Will it be gorier than Dead Alive? That is about the goriest movie I can recall seeing. It wasn't that realistic, but there was just so much of it! It even kind of got to me and I worked at a meat processing plant!
