The Walking Dead is one of the most popular television shows, even now going into it's tenth season. Along the way, many of the more notable faces have left the series such as Rick, Carl, Maggie, and Glen, causing some of the longtime fans to drop the series from their watchlist.

Fans that still do tune into the series learned over the Summer that Michonne would be the next to go, as Danai Gurira announced her upcoming departure during the soon-to-be-released Season 10. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, she opened up about how that made her feel.

I always look at it as TWD forever in my mind. We love each other. I'm part of a family. It never ends. I'll never leave this family. That's how I hold it in my heart.

That makes you wonder if she will have plans to be involved behind the camera in the future such as fellow The Walking Dead veteran Michael Cudlitz who died as Abraham Ford but returned to direct several episodes seasons later. As for why she is leaving, it seems pretty obvious that she wants to stretch her acting muscles in other capacities.

It's really what I shared at Comic-Con with the fans, which was really the key place to share it with all those amazing fans who devote themselves to coming and spend time with us every year. And where I really felt the first embrace from what the TWD family meant was there, seven, eight years ago. So, it was very difficult to tell that to the audience and I struggled through it because it wasn't an easy decision to make, but it was time for me to start exploring other aspects of what I do as a storyteller.

Obviously, she wasn't allowed to say if she had filmed her death scene yet, so she left fans with the following vague response.

I don't know if I can tell you that! However, she added: "I’ll just say that I’ve had an amazing time. I love the arc that [Michonne] got to take. And the way that she gets to exit the show is really special.

What do you think about these comments? Will you miss Gurira or would you prefer to see her continue her work on the big screen after Black Panther and Avengers: Endgame?

The Walking Dead will return for it's tenth Season on October 6th on AMC.
