AMC is gearing up for a new season of The Walking Dead, while fans are readying to say goodbye to Rick Grimes. Season 9 of the hit post-apocalyptic horror/drama television series is set to premiere October 7 and AMC has released two new teasers to get fans hyped.

The official trailer for the upcoming season teased a civil war brewing among the survivors as the various communities attempt to build towards a new future. But as these new teasers foreshadow, getting to this new future won't be easy.

In the first teaser, "New Beginnings," we hear from Negan who has an ominous message for Rick: "You're not saving the world; you're just getting it ready for me."

The second teaser is a bit brighter and more full of hope as we actually get a glimpse of Rick and Michonne enjoying some quality time together. We also get a glimpse of some Carol and Ezekiel romance before a final shot of Rick and Michonne holding hands. Of course, this is The Walking Dead we're talking about, so this whole "better future" Rick is fighting for will probably end horribly for everyone.

The Walking Dead returns for its ninth season - and Rick's final episodes - on Sunday, October 7 at 9/8c. Perhaps this whole "new beginnings" and "future begins now" relates not only to those in the show but is also symbolic for us fans who have to prepare for life in The Walking Dead without Rick.

Not many people commenting on a Walking Dead article. That has to speak volumes about the show. I think Preacher gets more comments than this. Nothing against you or your article Matt, you did a good job giving us the info. Also I still want to known if anyone else finsihed American Vandal season 2.

I maybe the only person is excited for this show but as I only watch this show since AOS is not available on broadcast TV.
Do not do streaming.

Interested to see how the show will continue without Ricky, not that I was a fan of his character.

The loss of Coral has put his story arc in the decline.

Not sure what the introduction of the Whispers will add with a lot of main characters already gone.

As much as I like Darling, he's not a leading figure.

Roll on tonight ☺
