THE WALKING DEAD Star Jeffrey Dean Morgan Says Talks Are Ongoing About A Spinoff Focusing On Negan

The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan confirms talks are taking place about a spinoff series focused on Negan, meaning that even once the final season concludes, we're not done with him and Lucille.

The Walking Dead is currently in the midst of its eleventh and final season, and to say it's running on fumes would be an understatement. The show's best days are long behind it, but AMC has a long list of spinoffs planned, including an anthology series and a project focusing on Norman Reedus' Daryl Dixon and Melissa McBride's Carol Peletier.

Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes is still expected to get his own movie, while Fear The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: Beyond are in their seventh and second/final seasons, respectively.

Now, it sounds like Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan could be next to get his own spinoff series.

"There've been things discussed with me and network people," the actor told TV Line. "We'll see. I mean, Negan could still find his way six feet under [before Season 11 concludes], so that could be a problem unless it's a prequel." Morgan, who has played the villain since The Walking Dead's sixth season, adds that he feels there are "still stories to be told with Negan."

"I kind of know how the season has worked itself so far," he added. "And we're cracking open windows here and there that would lend themselves to more Negan story."

This isn't the first time Morgan has teased the possibility of a solo series for Negan, though it's unclear what the show would focus on. We previously got a bonus episode dubbed "Here's Negan" which explored his origin story, so chances are any spinoff would serve as a sequel of sorts.

The Walking Dead will conclude in 2022.

I considered watching the Walking Dead with the episodes Negan was in, but since I found out that's almost 100 episodes I decided not to. Now if he gets a spin-off, I might just watch that instead

Negan and Maggie would have been a more interesting "on the road" spin-off than Daryl and Carol. Not going to lie.
