LUCIFER Final Season Canceled? Netflix & WB TV Reportedly In Talks For A Sixth Season Renewal

It sounds like the Devil may soon rise again as it's being reported that Netflix has engaged in negotiations with Warner Bros. Television for a possible sixth season of the beloved Tom Ellis-led series.

While the currently filming fifth season was announced as the "final" season last summer, TV Line is now reporting that Netflix may be looking to change course on that decision as they've recently engaged in talks with Warner Bros. Television to renew the series for a possible sixth season.

It's still too early to say whether the renewal will become a reality or not, but this is certainly a promising update.

To date, the fan-favorite series has aired 67 episodes, with the first three seasons airing on FOX before it was resurrected for a fourth season on Netflix. The fifth season will consist of sixteen episodes, bringing the show's episode count to 83 and making it the streaming giant's second-longest running original series, behind only Orange is the New Black (91).

In other news, Inbar Lavi has been confirmed to reprise her role as Eve in the upcoming fifth season, but details about her return are being kept under wraps for now.

The fifth (and final?) season of Lucifer will be split into two eight-episode parts, set to debut sometime this calendar year.

I always felt like they’d need to rush the story narrative to finish things off, which would give for a pretty satisfactory ending at most.

I think with Netflix producers perhaps running the show with shorter seasons, you could get another 2 - 3 seasons out of this quirky show.

Its oddly a really watchable show despite being so far from the great source material. My roommates and I burned through 3 straight seasons in a few days.

Netflix has a Sandman show shooting this summer... Lucifer is a supporting character in Gaiman's original book... crossover?

Slighty OT: if this is the second longest show, than what is the first? (My apologies for being too lazy to look it up myself)

@Reeds2Much - I expected something like Bojack Horseman, but Grace & Frankie is even more surprising

I heard about this yesterday, a little unheard and a first time thing for Netflix as well and with a show that wasn't originally it's own but Fox's. (This will also make The OA fandom more upset too I think)

I think they will find a way to make it keep going, hopefully.

Great show, hope they can make it happen.. and have a crossover or 2... or a least name drop... something...

This should has tons left to cover.. the foundational story is still in its adolescence

I don’t see how they could miss out on a 6th Season of a show called Lucifer 😂

I guess One Million Moms lost (all 13 of them).

I've never got the attraction to Lucifer. Maybe it had something to do with having read the Vertigo comic because him suddenly becoming a crime fighter was a bit hard to swallow.

@Kozmik - agreed... couldn’t get past the cop procedural, network tv structure of the show.

@Kman - I'm glad I'm not the only one because I tried to watch it–and I might even try again at some point–but when I think of Lucifer on Earth 'petty' isn't the first thing that comes to mind. Nor does 'shallow' and 'irritating.'

I read this as Netflix is finding that they need more content than they are being offered. And shows with lots of episodes are especially useful in stopping the dreaded sub, cancel after a month, wait 2-3 months, rinse, and repeat.

I personally enjoyed the big change that Season 4 was in compared to the other 3 seasons, that weren't lackluster, but Season 4 gave it a little more grit, to make it feel less Cop like, and more Devil like?
I am always easily impressed when someone fights in formal wear tbh though
