PENNYWORTH: Batman Prequel TV Series Casts British Singer Paloma Faith As The Lead Villain

The casting process for Epix's Batman prequel Pennyworth continues and it's now been confirmed that Paloma Faith will be taking on the role of Bet Sykes, a character who is described as being a cruel adversary who will test the courage of young Alfred Pennyworth and his new boss, Thomas Wayne (the future father of Gotham City's Caped Crusader).

While her name may not be familiar to those of you living outside of the United Kingdom, Faith is a Platinum-selling singer whose last album hit #1 on the British pop charts and stayed in the Top 40 for an impressive 32 weeks. She's never made much of an impact in the states but certainly has her fair share of fans.

Faith's character is said to be a "spirited, sadistic and sharp-tongued villain" but like most of this series, it doesn't sound as if she's based on anyone in particular from the comic books.

Pennyworth stars Jack Bannon as the titular character who we find here as a former SAS soldier in his 20s in 1960s London (which would make him in his 80s today). Gotham executive producers Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon are developing the series which may or may not serve as a prequel to the FOX series. What do you guys make of this latest casting addition?

@ODanil - yes they are. Because we gotta be so strapped for ideas that a concept teen titans go made fun of for being a ridiculous idea for a movie or show gets greenlit.

That worked out so well with Kylie Minogue in Street Fighter.

Even though a Pennyworth show is a lame idea, I like this casting. Paloma is a big star in the UK and a funny gal. And yes, that header image, hot damn.

So we got an Alfred show, but The Question still hasn't got any live action love?

@KWilly - It's 2018 andThe Question doesn't have a live action show. Imagine Sherlock with DC heroes and villains running around involved in cases.

FINALLY! Alfred has a nemesis! And lo, there will come a day when there is but one, ONE!!!, bottle of lemon pledge left on the shelf of the local CVS. Our hero Alfred at one end.....and his dastardly nemesis at the other! But who? WHO I SAY?!?! Will be the victor?!?! One gets the delightful, citrusy scent of victory, and the other gets the dusty, unkept bookcase of defeat! Tune in ne-you know what? I just ran out of sarcasm. Seriously. If this has some damn good writing I will be the FIRST to eat crow, but c’mon! Who thought this was a good idea?!? Did they bring Amy Pascal on as a damn consultant?!

I can't wait until the parents of the Joker, Penguin,Cat-woman and the Riddler all show up in 1960s London, because that makes as much sense as this show will ;-)

Interesting casting. Also I'm watching episode 2 of Titans right now, no complaints yet lol. Something is really messed up with this new DC app, the video looks great but the audio is [frick]ed up. It's noticeable on every show, especially when someone says an s word or an explosion. The encoding is botched in some degree lol, surely I'm not the only one experiencing this?? Nothing else I've ever watched had the same effect on my sound system. Except maybe a shitty cam of a movie lol

These companies really have zero chill when it comes to milking superheroes for every penny they're worth. An Alfred tv show?? This is almost as ridiculous as that Aunt May solo movie rumor

Lady Vic can be a good villain.

Devon Aoki.

Alfred may also be attracted to her

What is she going to do, not use a coaster? Will she spill red wine on a white carpet? As red wine is a butler's kryptonite
