PENNYWORTH: Production For The Pilot Is Set For The End Of The Year Says Latest Report

Once GOTHAM's final season comes to a close, showrunner Bruno Heller is far from done with the property, setting up and producing an Alfred Pennyworth prequel series at Epix.

The last we heard of Epix’s Alfred Pennyworth prequel series, it was reported that the legendary butler would be receiving a 10-episode straight to series order from the company during it's announcement in May.

Whether the concept and story of a young Alfred Pennyworth is something worth telling is one that will be argued as the series develops further, but it seems as though Epix is very set on gearing up production soon.

The latest report from Omega Underground points to the production of the series’ pilot commencing during upcoming fall/winter season, and is certainly expected to do so before the year closes out.

When the series was announced it was reported that the program would be set in London during the 1960's with Pennyworth teaming up with a young Thomas Wayne. It is hard to imagine seeing the series last more than two or three seasons, with the premise shaping up more like a miniseries than anything else. Regardless, Epix hopes to roll out the series on screens during the fall of next year.

Is there seriously anyone who’ll watch this? I mean I thought Gotham was pushing it but Krypton and this are just next level unnecessary

All we need now is an Uncle Ben and Pa Kent movie.

@MarDCel - Only if it's the story of a naive Jonathan being swept up in the world of high-class male escorts in the big city. Finding a rival, a friend, and then a forbidden love in fellow rent-boy, Ben Parker. After a mutual battle with addiction and grief, they find their way out of the seedy underbelly of the city and return to their estranged spouses, changed forever by that fever-ish few months together.

Can’t wait to see which relative of Alfred’s become Harley Quinn.

@KingEmperor - I mean, there was a classic Batman comic strip where some blonde thief chick with a thick New York accent pretended to be Alfred's estranged niece visiting America to get at Bruce Wayne's money...

@KingEmperor - if any comic character shows up it should be Deathstroke’s assistant Wintergreen, I’m pretty sure they have some kind of connection

@MasterMix - This somehow reminded me of my dream to see Richard and Mary Parker as agents of SHIELD(or CIA) in the Captain Marvel movie since it takes place in the 90s before Peter was born.

Well, I'm not a DC fan, but even still, do people actually REALLY want this? I can't think of anything more boring. Even Agent Carter was more entertaining sounding than this...

Next up: The New Adventures of Martha Wayne's nanny come watch the origin of Batman's future dead mum from the POV of the person who once changed her nappies. Experience the twists and turns as as the nanny is revealed to be linked without reason to the night of Martha's death as it will be shown she is in fact The Jokers mum too.
