Grant Gustin Says The New Timeline In THE FLASH Season 3 Will See Barry Forget His Powers

Time will not be playing fair with Barry Allen in season 3 of The Flash, and the repercussions of saving his mother from death will be making themselves apparent quite quickly...

When we catch up with Barry Allen in The Flash season 3, he'll be well adjusted to his new life with his family after time-travelling and saving his mother at the end of season 2. But, as is the norm for superheroes, good things never last, and time will catch up with Barry, despite his best intentions.

In a new episode of DC All Access, actor Grant Gustin gave some more details on how the new timeline will affect Barry and his memory of the past two seasons. "Barry's the only one who knows that the timeline is different," Gustin explained. "And his memories are gradually being replaced by memories of graduating high school and college, his moments with his family, and when he realizes that those memories are replacing other memories, that's when he starts to realize how selfish of a decision this was."

But memory loss won't be Barry's only problem; apparently his powers will also begin to disappear. "It means he's forgetting his powers, too. He's having a full Back to the Future moment, his hand disappearing in front of him," Gustin said. Executive Producer Aaron Helbing also confirmed that season 3 will have two major villains. "One is a speedster, the other is a human. They're gonna be a challenge for Barry." Given what we've seen so far, we can assume this means the unnamed speedster in the trailers (speculated to be Black Racer) and Dr. Alchemy.

I am convinced that CW hates it's audience. Oh these two are in a great relationship, NOPE, not anymore! Oh he becomes a great hero and learns a lot about himself and his powers, NOPE, eff that.

@arrd - right! Barry would basically just run to people and trash talk till he figured out he could use the environment to help him XD I so wanted to see him use phasing and fast punches more often, but now we goin' back :( which I guess I don't mind, it's close to him having no powers (like the flashpoint movie (not sure about comic as I haven't read it)

I think it was third season Arrow hit the wall; here's hoping Flash doesn't get a Felicity Paradox...should I trademark that? Nah it will be fine, what's worse that can happen...

Better be better than it sounds. I'm not interested in Barry going back to the basics.

Maybe this Flashpoint will erase Olicity and she will go back to being a crazy hot Hacker. Make her the heavy for the season HA! The only downside to that would be if we had to go through Olicity getting back together. That would get a 10 episode arc and make me sick to my ass.

I'd love to see a Bruce Wayne mention

Wally West better not ruin my faith in this show either. Really hoping they have a better plot than season 2...
Season2 felt good up until after the Zoom reveal, then it got lazy and side tracked until they wrapped up the whole season in the last 5 minutes of the finale.

Flashpoint better not be only 1-3 episodes long. I'm hoping for a meaty arc since there is so much they can do with it.

It's going to get shitty. They call it the damn "Arrowverse." Arrow is one of the worst shows on tv since that pile of shit, Smallville. That's the CW's flagship show even though it's the most hated. The creators don't care. Why the hell is supernatural still on? Because it's the CW. These shows will never be canceled. I zombie??? Who the hell even watches that crap???

@WhiteWallyWest1 - question...just trying to figure out what type of idiot you are...are you the type that watches these shows that you claim are crap and then runs online to give your stupid opinion? OR are you the even dumber type that calls shows crap when he doesn't even watch the show, and therefore would not know if it is crap or not? I know you are one of these types of idiot, just wondering which type. giving opinions on shows you don't watch is beyond stupid.

@DarkeyeZ - Listen, mate. I'm the type of person that watches these shows because I'm always hopeful they'll be solid. Arrow is complete shit. I zombie shouldn't even be on the air. Smallville was pathetic. Flash and LOT are ok. The flash is the best out of all the crappy CW shows. Arrow is so off, it's ridiculous. That's not Oliver Queen. They're trying to make him Bruce Wayne/Batman. If you try to argue that point, I think you might be the stupid one here, my friend. Daredevil is the best comic show. Period. (But Flash is ok, obviously.)
