THE FLASH: Deathstorm Has Arrived In The New Promo For Season 8, Episode 12: "Death Rises"

Deathstorm has finally arrived in Central City, and things are about to get very, very bad for Barry Allen and his team when The Flash returns in two weeks with the first of a scary two-parter!

While it looked for a second like Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell) had returned from the dead, the rug was pulled out from under Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) fairly quickly when the seemingly resurrected "Ronnie" revealed himself as the DC Comics villain Deathstorm, who is now going to cause all kinds of devastating problems for Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Team Flash.

Amell tells Entertainment Weekly a bit about where we'll find the villain when the series returns in two weeks. "He's not quite powerful enough yet, so he feeds on pain and anguish and suffering, and that's what he does. He goes out and starts preying on individuals. As an actor, it's just super fun to play, and it's nice to see a little bit of a darker tone on the show, a little different, especially the contrast to the flashback scenes. You definitely don't get that guy coming back. It's going to be bad. It's going to piss off a ton of people. I think the hate tweets will come rolling in. I'm excited about it.

As for how much more of Deathstorm we can expect to see this season, Amell confirms that he'll be in the next two installments, which will air on April 27 and May 4.

Check out the new promo for episode twelve, titled "Death Rises," below:

"Death Rises" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, DLV) (HDTV)

ALL HANDS ON DECK - With a new Meta terrorizing the city, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) lends a hand to the local authorities, meanwhile Barry (Grant Gustin) gets an assist from Cecille (Danielle Nicolet) who helps to track the mass murderer. Phil Chipera directed the episode with the story by Alex Boyd and teleplay by Arielle McAlpin & Dan Fisk (#812). Original airdate 4/27/2022.

Of course Barry is crying and sad seeking advice and/or a pep talk. Their writers must cut and paste storylines.

I wish they stretched out the reveal an episode. Have Caitlin get suspicious of little mistakes Ronnie make. Not that "Resurrected loved one returns but evil" is surprising, but they could have put a little meat on that bone.

Picture unrelated. I'm just enjoying "sneaking" BatKeaton into pics.

It looks decently comic accurate though the effects are shoddy af. Reminds me of how much I enjoyed the Forever Evil comics

Oh shit, Ronnie is back? Do.... do I care enough?

I haven't watched an Arrowverse show since Crisis. Do I need to go back very far?

The entire episode was a back-and-forth about the legitimacy if Caitlin was right or was being lied to. She had pretty much most of the science behind why Ronnie could be alive in the Black Flame nailed down: the ties to the Singularity, those radiation levels that matched when Firestorm died in it, the memories only he would know and the connection to all the victims being clues to led to her.

Wouldn't rule out that it also went after Killer Frost last week not just to recharge it's power (not the same thing as feeding from grief and anguish which must be what it makes it harder to kill) but also to lure Caitlin knowing she'd protect Frost. And this episode also made sense why both characters ended up split in Season 7 by Eva's mirror tech: to later use it on Deathstorm.

It was a far better plan to make her and the rest develop the splicer to give him this form than what he tried on Chester. Deathstorm is just that good at pulling the strings.

I liked the debate between Allegra and Chester and she was right about not all should be immediately available but because not everyone on the live feed was as sincere as he is. Their scenes have improven a lot ever since 8x09's ending, I like it better this way. It is more genuine for not saying mature compared to how awkward it used to be before.

That "Blackest Night" name drop she made though. Good wink and foreshadowing.

For nostalgia I rewatched the 1x13 "Nuclear Man" and 1x14 "Fallout" S1 episodes and the scene where they both proposed in that place was actually mentioned by Stein in Ronnie's body as the most vivid memory he always felt, good callback and adaptation.

I wonder if Tinya didn't actually just made Iris be invisible instead of sending her somewhere else, given her ability is to become intangible and phase and not sending others to whatever possible dimention that scene implied. I just don't think it is the time for her to go missing if it isn't gonna be through her time sickness. Poor Barry still.

As for the preview: Deathstorm's rampage has began and judging by those reports CCPD is getting he isn't just going nuclear on the city but he's still psychologically attacking more people like he did it with Chester and even dropping roast bodies around? Or maybe those are just his newest victims.

I wonder how much of Caitlin's theory of why "Ronnie" was there was true because the final scene revealed that it wasn't just him all this time but it hinted at something else that seemed to be within the Singularity. This Deathstorm seems like a horror mix of dark matter from the Firestorm matrix and something else and darker.

Love that Barry's gonna rush in to fight him and save Caitlin even though he just got bad news from Sue about Iris but his powers aren't yet a match to Deathstorm.

And I like how Joe's "run" advice can apply to both fleeing if you see Deathstorm and also how Flash must keep confronting it to protect everyone.

Finally we also got the preview for 8x13 and with such a vague summary it's obvious it is gonna get intense.

“Death Falls.”

GRIEF – Team Flash is under attack, and each must fight to save not only themselves but each other. The series stars Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Danielle Nicolet, Kayla Compton and Brandon McKnight. Chris Peppe directed the episode with the story by Sam Chalsen and teleplay by Joshua V. Gilbert (#813). Original airdate 5/4/2022. Every episode of THE FLASH will be available to stream on The CW App and CWTV.com the day after broadcast for free and without a subscription, log-in or authentication required.

In other Arrowverse news, Superman & Lois 2x11 "Truth and Consequences" synopsis is out.

DAVID RAMSEY (“ARROW”) DIRECTS THE EPISODE — We pick up right where we left off with Jon-El (Jordan Elsass) smirking at Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch), who is still standing on the porch with Jordan (Alex Garfin). Jon-El catches sight of his doppelganger Jonathan (Jordan Elsass), standing not too far away. He lunges at him and Jordan tries to intervene but Jon-El appears to be stronger and faster than him. Tyler Hoechlin, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Dylan Walsh, Erik Valdez, Inde Navarrette, Wole Parks, Sofia Hasmik and Taylor Hack also star. The episode was directed by David Ramsey and written by Andrew N. Wong (#211). Original airdate 5/3/2022.

Basically all of 2x10 will take place in Bizarro World and the following will pick up the plot in Earth Prime. I'm predicting that something that could help in getting the upper hand on Jon-El will be the the headaches he should be getting as long as he is on the same Earth as Jonathan.

And finally going back a bit with The Flash, Tom Cavanagh spotted back on set in the final S8 episode (8x20) wearing quite a different speedster suit.

It has some metalic parts which made some think back on Savitar's armor or that is has a vibe of Daniel West from The New 52. It's also without a chinstrap too. I wonder why he would drop the newest yellow one...well can't wait to see what goes down here.

Robbie returning, but as Deathstorm, does sound pretty interesting. Maybe I'll put those episodes on, even if I have no idea whats going on in the show

this would have been cool several years ago, but honestly its been so long, and caitline has gotten so few plots just about her outside of killer frost related stuff, does it really matter. seems to just be retreading old ground now.

maybe they should have just written the killer frost arc better in season 3 and let her be a villain

would be nice for one of these shows to follow through on the idea of a friend eventually becoming a villain

Flash : Killer frost is a split personality and then the personality becomes good after a hand full of episodes of bein a henchmen

supergirl ; toyman, not the actual toyman, is his son (if that was the plan why not call him anton) and then turn him into a hero toyman

black lightning ; painkiller looked like he was going evil at the end of season one, then they backtrack in season 2, despite showing he was fully willing to do stuff but was now being treated like he was forced

even arrow, originally tommy was going to be the dark archer but they liked colin donnell so they brought in malcolm

Ronnie returning as a zombie-like Deathstrom is an idea most most of the fans had at least five years ago. If they had the guts to make Caitlin actually evil Killer Frost, those should've been the big bads in season 3 or 4. Replacing Captain Cold and Heatwave as the song of ice and fire in Central City.

@Odin - Deathstorm has always been about a dead Ronnie being reanimated from the afterlife but through the power of a Black Ring, it's not really something fans came up first.

@NinnesMBC - Oh, yeah. I know about the different versions in comics, but I meant in the context of the show. Like, back in season 2 we saw Martin Stein having blue flame episodes as a side effect for not having a Firestorm counterpart. Many fans were already back then speculating, mostly because they had seen the BL Deathstorm in the comics, that the same blue flames effect might happen to Ronnie and bring him back as a kind of Deathstorm we are seeing now.

wait... are they doing a darkest night type story? Bc wasnt death storm a darkest night baddy? I might be wrong and maybe he was around before that story line, but that's what I thought

It's time to end this show. We are so past the time of the Arrowverse now, you only have to look at shows like Superman & Lois and how different they look and are written. Flash just looks old and cheap. I use to love Smallville when it aired, but when you compare it to superhero shows now it looks so dated and the storylines come across cheesy now. The same is happening with these CW Arrowverse shows. They had their time, and were great a few years back. But we have moved on and when you compare Flash to other shows it's just embarrassing.

What is really sad about the Flash now is even it's lead thinks the show has had its day and is running on empty. He just wants to leave.
