THE FLASH: Eddie Thawne Actor Rick Cosnett Confirms He Will Reprise The Role In Season 8

Rick Cosnett played Eddie Thawne in The Flash's first season and the actor has now confirmed that he's returning to The CW series for its upcoming eighth season. Find out what he had to say right here...

We first met Eddie Thawne in the first season of The Flash, though he'd ultimately sacrifice himself in the finale in order to wipe his distant descendant, Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash, from existence. Unfortunately, that proved to be pointless thanks to the Negative Speed Force preserving several of the villain's time remnants (hence why the evil speedster has been able to keep returning).

Regardless, the character's story will continue in The Flash season 8 as actor Rick Cosnett has confirmed he's set to return as Eddie in The CW series. "If you hadn't guessed...I'm in the new season of [The Flash]," he says in the Instagram post below, failing to give any specifics away about his role.

The Flash returns on November 16 with the five-part "Armageddon" event, though it's unclear whether Cosnett will be part of that or a later storyline in season 8. Many viewers were disappointed that they never got to see him suit up as Reverse-Flash, so it's possible that could be the plan for him if the team working on the series is looking to deliver some good old fashioned fan-service.

Cosnett returned as Rick in season 2 of The Flash and was later in season 3 as the Speed Force itself. Aside from that, he also showed up in Legends of Tomorrow with archival footage.

Really could have done more with this character being Thawne’s ancestor. Then again the show night has we’ll have changed it’s named to ‘wasted potential’ after season 2

@Robby - if you saw how they adapted godspeed, you really don't want that. Godspeed was literally a power rangers monster, over the top voice and all.

I originally thought when I first watched season 1 that Eddie would be our reverse flash. I also think coincidentally he would have made an excellent Barry Himself.

@TheMapleSyrup - thats a good thought.

I figured there were two reverse flashes on the show. The real one, Eobard thawne, and Harrison wells pretending to be the reverse flash but really is just a future Barry hoping to train his past self.

How is it that this guy hasn't been in anything noteworthy since the flash yet I think he's currently too good for this show?

Only took like six seasons to remember that dangling thread.

They really wasted this character, sadly.
