Season 8 of The Flash kicked off last night with the "Armageddon" crossover event, which pitted the Fastest Man Alive and a number of returning heroes against the villainous Despero. However, for many fans, the most exciting thing about the show this year is Tom Cavanagh's Reverse-Flash.

During an interview with CBR, showrunner Eric Wallace dropped a few hints about what to expect from Eoboard Thawne's big comeback, confirming his return will be the season's next "graphic novel" story arc.

Revealing that this will be the same Reverse-Flash who learned that Barry Allen is now faster than him in the season 7 finale, Wallace explained: "[At] the end of last season, Reverse-Flash...he's a pretty pissed-off dude. Why? Because The Flash is faster now. If there's one question that 'Armageddon' answers, it's, 'Well, if you can't outrun your foe, what do you do to beat him?'"

"That's where Eobard Thawne will start in 'Armageddon.' That's really the question for him, and that question gets answered throughout all of Season 8, in weird and unexpected ways."

Adding that Rick Cosnett's Eddie Thawne won't in "Armageddon," Wallace noted that "We have three graphic novels this year in Season 8. Knock on wood if we can pull off this gargantuan feat, but they all spin out of 'Armageddon.'" It sounds like an exciting season for the Scarlet Speedster!

The Flash airs every Tuesday on The CW.

Such a weird way to put it. They probably mean three graphic novels for inspiration, but given the idiotic writing of last season, I wouldn't be surprised if they legit think superhero stories are graphic novels, regardless of the actual media it's in.

@Origame - They mean 3 different story arcs. As in 3 different main villains they just named them graphic novels.

@Origame - It's just a way of saying story arc. They know they are not literal graphic novels and it is just used as to allude to storylines. Just like how the Agents of SHIELD crew came up with their "pods" format to tell their stories since Season 4.

Calling the arcs graphic novels is so dumb.

I'd be willing to argue that Thawne will be involved with whatever it is the main threat of S8 post Armageddon, including the search for what is causing Iris' time sickness.

And if it is a "can't outrun your foe" question then the idea would be to lure him to a trap that he (Barry) doesn't know he is going into. The angle of trying to pass as an ally will not give him results at this point.
