THE FLASH Star Grant Gustin Isn't Closing The Door On Playing The Fastest Man Alive Again

The Flash star Grant Gustin says he won't close the door on possibly reprising the role of Barry Allen down the line, but admits that he's struggling to wrap his head around the idea of leaving the show.

The Flash TV show is racing towards the finish line, and star Grant Gustin recently confirmed that he's now completely done working on its ninth and final season.

It's been an epic run for the actor star since he first played Barry Allen in Arrow, though we're guessing he's keen to move on to different projects now. The Flash's conclusion also means we'll be saying goodbye to the Arrowverse following last year's cancellations of Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow, making this something of an end of an era for DC TV.

While Gustin has hung up the Scarlet Speedster's suit, the actor now tells Us Weekly that he hasn't completely closed the door on playing The Flash again.

"I can't wrap my head around it right now, obviously," the actor said when asked about the show's ending. "But if someone called me today or tomorrow and was like, 'Hey, we have this amazing Flash idea,' obviously it's like, I'm gonna take that phone call and listen to that idea."

"And I think this is a character that I'm going to — no matter if I play it again [or not] — I'll probably be associated with this character more than anything else in my career, for the rest of my life. So, I'll always listen to any Flash pitch," Gustin continued. "I mean, it's very, very close to my heart. I think it always will be."

There were once rumours Gustin might show up as his version of the Fastest Man Alive in The Flash movie, but those have been debunked following its CinemaCon screening. He and Ezra Miller did share the screen during The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, though, so repeating that might have felt a tad redundant.

Many fans would like to see Miller play the DCU's Barry for DC Studios, though the hero's future as part of that shared world - regardless of who plays him - seemingly hasn't been decided yet.

The next episode of The Flash will air on The CW later this evening.

It would be weird to have a Flash in his mid-to-late-thirties when Superman is in his mid-twenties.

That goes for Ezra too.

@ObserverIO - think you need to be more worried about Ezra being in the mid to late teens...

I still say He and the likes of Amell were contacted back before Gunn took over about showing up the Crisis they were supposedly setting up. So I wouldn’t Be surprised if that is still the plan somewhere down the line
