THE FLASH TV Series Casts Bart Allen/Impulse...With An Unexpected (Yet Familiar) Twist

The CW's The Flash is set to introduce a version of Bart Allen, aka Impulse, who will make his debut in the upcoming 150th episode. To All The Boys 2 actor Jordan Fisher will play the character...

Well, this sounds familiar.

A couple of years ago, The Flash introduced Barry Allen and Iris West's daughter from the future, a character we came to know as Nora Allen/XS (played by Jessica Parker Kennedy). Unfortunately, the machinations of Reverse-Flash meant that she was ultimately wiped from existence and the timeline.

Now, though, Barry and Iris are getting another shot as being parents as they meet their future son: Bart Allen. Of course, this is a departure from the comic books as that version of the teenage speedster is their grandson (and the son of Meloni Thawne and Don Allen). Jordan Fisher (To All The Boys 2) will play the character, and he'll make his debut in The Flash's 150th episode.

That's the seventeenth episode of the show's current seventh season, for those of you wondering!

"The future son of Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen, Bart is the fastest teenager on the planet," reads the description. "Due to Bart’s penchant for wildly impulsive behavior, a stunned Barry and Iris will have their hands full trying to teach their new son patience. But it’s a task they’ll have to accomplish, in order for their family to work together and stop Team Flash’s biggest threat yet"

It's certainly an interesting, albeit familiar twist, and if Grant Gustin's time as the Flash is nearing its end (as many have speculated), Bart could very easily become the show's new lead. For now, all we know is that he'll have a key role to play in this landmark episode of The CW series.

Feels like an unnecessary twist, especially since they already had a child from the future plot. But I guedd we'll see how it plays out.

I have no regrets for quitting on this show.

So, is there a parental twist? Josh is, once again, a hack.

@Doomsday8888 - I skipped out on YJ until they announced a S3, and boy Wally at the end of S2.... Ooof, my heart can't handle such a beating.

@Doomsday8888 - The whole Flash family is completely [frick]ed. Wally is Iris' brother/Barry's brother-in-law. Bart is Iris/Barry's son. Jay is from another earth. Such a disgrace.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - To be fair, Jay being from another Earth has precedent.

OmegaBlack13 - It's definitely not as bad as the previous two changes, but I feel like it's like introducing Batgirl into a Batman show using Betty Kane instead of Barbara Gordon. Would it be wrong? Not necessarily, but it'd be using a short lived version. The whole flash of two worlds idea is a pretty small section in the larger DC universe. I think Jay and the JSA existing before the JLA has always been a better concept than them being from separate worlds.

When CW pulled the plug on first Arrow, then Legend, Black Lightning and Supergirl, I honestly thought Flash was going to follow, but nah CW renewed it for another season smfhhhh

@Mysterion - I don't believe Legends has been cancelled. I also wouldn't say that the other shows had the plug pulled. Arrow ended on Stephen Amell's terms. It seems like Supergirl is ending on Benoist's terms.

@Mysterion - Legends wasn't cancelled. Supergirl and Arrow both ended on the terms of their leads. 👍
