It's been a good week for fans of Neil Gaiman's seminal DC Vertigo comic series, The Sandman.

Yesterday, the principal cast for Netflix's planned adaptation was announced, and Variety has now confirmed that the recent Audible drama - which comprised the first three volumes Preludes & Nocturnes, The Doll’s House and Dream Country - will return to continue the story with The Sandman: Act II and The Sandman: Act III.

The first installment was released in July of last year, and was reportedly the Amazon-owned company’s best-selling original to date.

Dirk Maggs will return as director, while Gaiman will also be back on board as creative director and co-executive producer.

Act II will cover Season of Mists, Distant Mirrors, A Game of You and Convergence; with Act III adapting Brief Lives and World's End. We assume a fourth season will conclude the tale with The Kindly Ones and The Wake, but that hasn't been confirmed.

James McAvoy will return to provide the voice of Morpheus, but expect a lot of new cast members to be announced for these next volumes. No release date has been set.

When The Sandman, also known as Lord Morpheus - the immortal king of dreams, stories and the imagination - is pulled from his realm and imprisoned on Earth by a nefarious cult, he languishes for decades before finally escaping. Once free, he must retrieve the three “tools” that will restore his power and help him to rebuild his dominion, which has deteriorated in his absence.
As the multi-threaded story unspools, The Sandman descends into Hell to confront Lucifer (Michael Sheen), chases rogue nightmares who have escaped his realm, and crosses paths with an array of characters from DC comic books, ancient myths, and real-world history, including: Inmates of Gotham City's Arkham Asylum, Doctor Destiny, the muse Calliope, the three Fates, William Shakespeare (Arthur Darvill), and many more.

Have any of you guys checked out the first volume of Audible's The Sandman? If not, we highly recommend it.
