Neil Gaiman's The Sandman is widely considered one of the greatest comic book series of all time, and Cowboy Bebop has equal standing in the anime world. Fans have been waiting a long time for live-action takes on both properties, and this Saturday, we'll finally see the first footage from the upcoming Netflix adaptations.

The streaming giant has released the full schedule for its Tudum event, which kicks off on September 25. In addition to updates on the likes of Red Notice, Stranger Things season 4, the Extraction sequel and the third season of Umbrella Academy, it's been confirmed that teasers for The Sandman and Cowboy Bebop will debut.

Full trailers are unlikely, but Netflix has announced that we will get an "exclusive first look (video + character posters)" for The Sandman, and "an exclusive look at the Cowboy Bebop opening title sequence featuring John Cho (Spike Spiegel) and the highly anticipated music from Yoko Kanno."

Both panels will be held during hour 2 of the event. You can check out the full schedule here.

The virtual Tudum livestream will kick-off on September 25 at 9am PST / 12pm EST / 4pm GMT / 1am JST and KST across Netflix's YouTube channels, in addition to Twitter and Twitch. There will also be special pre-shows spotlighting Korean and Indian series and films along with anime content that will kick-off at 5am PST / 8am EST / 12pm GMT / 9pm JST and KST.

@BlackBeltJones - I'll be deciding whether or not to watch Bebop based solely on it's trailer music.

@dracula - apart from it being set in space with a crew, Firefly and Cowboy Bebop are two very different things.

I always recommend CB to people who don’t usually like anime, as it doesn’t naturally feel like an anime apart from looks. Plus, I swear every 4/5 years I decide to binge it, it always feels like a different story the older I get - it really has integral life issues as the themes of each episode, that as you get older, the more you come to appreciate.

I am sorry for nitpicking at the ignorance of your comment, it’s just I never do like when people comment on a genre they’ve never watched - to fully understand what they’re criticis(z)ing.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - Not sure I was criticizing it, just said I wasn't that interested in the genre. (Although from what i have seen over the years, there are aspects of anime that i would criticize)

@dracula - nah, I know I was just trying to poke fun at Scorsese gag.

But seriously if you were to try with any anime, definitely CB. And you’re right, there’s definitely whacky anime too…

Not watching Sandman.

I'll stick with my three volume omnibus collection.

Cowboy Beebop

I might just stick to the Anime.

@marvel72 -
Neil Gaiman himself is one of the showrunners and oversaw the casting, if you didn't know. Gaiman has also been blocking shitty Sandman adaptations for decades and is notoriously protective of it, so if this has his seal of approval, that's saying something.

@Darkknight2149 - Neil Gaiman is cool but I don't care for race and gender swapping of characters,I want it to be a faithful adaption of the comic book.

@marvel72 -
I imagine it will definitely be faithful. However, the race-swap stuff wasn't all planned in advance. Gaiman said that they tested hundreds of actors for Death and Kirby Howell-Baptiste simply gave the best audition.

@marvel72 - In the source material Death doesn't have a race.

And they haven't yet confirmed, either way, whether Gwendoline Christie will be playing a male or female Lucifer.
Keep in mind that Tilda Swinton played a male Archangel Michael once, in Constantine.

No race-swapping or gender-swapping. So you can watch it now. Since that's the only thing holding you back. As any true fan of the maerial would be dying to see the one and only, Gaiman-sanctioned, big budget, live-action adaptation, I'm sure your only too grateful to me for clearing that up for you.

I guess that's not a very static stance considering you've regularly said you liked The Suicide Squad and Justice League.

@marvel72 - But the guy that made the comic has a large hand in the show how can you tell him what is and isn't faithful 😭😭
marvel72
marvel72 - 9/23/2021, 4:45 PM
@Reeds2Much - Haven't seen The Suicide Squad,I've seen the first movie though,so you're wrong there.

Justice League didn't feature any race or gender swapping of the main heroes and villains, so I was cool with that,pretty good movie The Snyder Cut.

Sandman's one of my favorite comic runs ever. Cautiously optimistic, but the casting seems really great so far. Sturridge especially looks like Morpheus.
