Avengers: Endgame and
Game of Thrones have dominated conversation this month (really, this year), and it turns out the Marvel epic and HBO's fantasy drama series are connected by more than just their status as pop culture phenomenons.
During an interview with
Vulture, Endgame's Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff) revealed that she auditioned to play Daenerys Targaryen before Emilia Clarke was cast, and from the sounds of things, it didn't go particularly well!
“When I first started working, I just auditioned for everything, because I like auditioning. And I auditioned for Khaleesi. I forgot that. It was the most awkward audition I’d ever had.
[From] after she just burned. And she’s making this speech to thousands of people about how she’s their queen. They didn’t know if they wanted a British accent or not. So, you did it in both. It was terrible. Anytime someone says, ‘Bad audition story.’ That’s one I remember.”
Olsen may not have nabbed the part, but, like most of us, she's still a massive fan of the show.
“I’m just so deep in Game of Thrones that all I can think about is Kit Harington,” she added.
“I mean, he’s just brainwashed me.”
How did Olsen feel about last night's divisive series finale and the fate of the Mother of Dragons? Perhaps we'll find out!
