Game Of Thrones Episode 6 "A Golden Crown" Preview

Game Of Thrones Episode 6 "A Golden Crown" Preview

After the last episode upped the action/violence quota considerably, HBO's fantastic series looks to be continuing in the same vein as the show's first season passes the halfway point with episode 6...

Reinstated as the Hand, Ned sits for the King while Robert is on a hunt, and issues a decree that could have long-term consequences throughout the Seven Kingdoms. At the Eyrie, Tyrion confesses to his “crimes,” and demands that Lysa give him a trial by combat. Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) apologizes to Sansa; Viserys receives his final payment for Daenerys from Drogo (Jason Mamoa).

Bit late getting this one up, I have only just caught the 5th episode(and loved it). This one also promises to be a corker, as anyone who has read the books knows what the title of the episode refers to!

I have to say this is a pretty good series. Better than Camelot, but not better than Spartacus!

@Spock - Its going to HAAAAARRRRDDDD for a show about battling and warriors to compete with Spartacus. But Game of Thrones is awesome. Its 100x better than Legend of the Seeker, thats for sure.

And for the record, I liked that show!

I think this series is really getting going. An all-out fight between the Lannisters and the Starks is going to intriguing. I just hope our favourite midget knows what he is doing in confessing to the crimes.

Ok, I finally watched an ep of Spartacus, and I have to say, meh! I had heard great things about it but it was really a bit silly and glossy and melodramatic for my tastes. Might just take a while to grow, I'll watch some more and see. Still haven't seen Camelot, hear it's pretty good too.

Thrones takes some beating imo, pretty damn near perfect.

@Ror

Spartacus is nothing more than gladiator porn featuring gallons of gratuitous blood, dudity and profanity. There's really no comparing it to GoT.

@Ror

Camelot is decent, but it's severely hampered by the performance and lack of gravitas exuded by the lead actor. Fienes is brilliant as MERLIN, and a bunch of the supporting cast are quality as well, but the lead is such a pu$$y.

Spartacus takes a little while to get going, mainly due to the director playing with the CGI blood like a child, however, once the toy is no longer new, it's used responsibly. If you don't like drama tho, it's probably not for you. I LOVED all the sub-plots on that show. All the secrets, intrigue, and back-stabbing was done masterfully!

Game of Thrones is pure class, and my only complaint is that I can't remember all the characters names sometimes! So when they are referencing characters off screen, sometimes it takes a bit for me to figure out who they are talking about. Love it tho.

It seems like there is no SCI-FI left on TV these days. Torchwood & Fringe stand alone in the UK & US respectively. I'm hoping Battlestar: Blood & Chrome delivers the goods, but as it stands now, i can't stand the SyFy channel.

At least there are some good Fantasy shows...

The show has been great so far and really captures the feel of the books. I haven't seen Camelot but I watched about 4 episodes of Sparticus and gave up. GoT is filet mignon, Sparticus was like rump roast.

Absolutetly great show! At every end they leave you wanting ever more! HBO is insane! Game of Thrones, True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, Bored To Death, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Entourage are some good shows!

@Talontd I agree about all those shows you mentioned. Thrones is the best. About the names try reading the books at times it can be pretty hard to keep up with who they are talking about, some names being similar and some ppl being related like Robert's bothers, the Lanisters and Jeor Mormont that is the head of the night's watch and his son Jorah Mormont who is the guy helping Daenerys Targaryen. And don't get me started on when they are talking about which past Targaryen did what. LOL. Good books though.

@Ror Have you read all the books? I am only half way through the second one but have read all the Hedge Knight books is there a main hero at all besides Jon Snow?

@Cbmfan2 you must be new to the site. This is CBM related. This is not a superhero site and not every comic is about superheroes.

This show is amazing. It follows the source so well. Each week I'm looking foward to the next episode. As for Camalot I am not a fan and sparticus took a few episodes to get going but once it does it was very good. The prequel was really good also. If you have not read the books to this series I highly recommend that u do they are fantastic and it's easier to keep up with the characters when u know them from another source. I hope the last book is great I was let down by 4.

My only flirt with fantasy until now had been David Gemmell's work, wich I love and highly recommend. That said, I'm impressed an thoroughly hooked with this show, and am looking forward to reading the novels. Characters like Ned, Tyrion or Jon are hard to come by these days. Best show of it's kind.

@Talontd: Agree with you on your comments about the mentioned shows, I couldn't have put it in better words.

@hunterelf: Hell yeah more Jon! I'm digging the whole Night's Watch thing.

@Ror - @Talontd summed up Spartacus pretty well. The first couple of Episodes moves kind of slow, but by Episode 4 the drama and action take off. Spartacus was easily the best show of this Genre, but Thrones is a close 2nd.

@EasterBunnyReject- I totally agree once we start getting into the other books this show is going to take off. Does anyone know if they are going to change the name of the show next season since only the first book is called "Game of Thrones"?

*SPOILER ALERT*

I'm halfway through A Feast for Crows (book 4) and they are really good books. I totally agree with EasterBunnyReject, the last half of season 3 is going to be rediculous. But one thing to keep in mind with this show, *SPOILER ALERT* is that NO character is safe in this series.
