GAME OF THRONES: Is Fan-Fave Character 'Jaqen H’ghar' Returning For Season 5?

He is according to the German agency of actor Tom Wlaschiha anyway. Thought not officially confirmed by HBO, they reckon we will be seeing the enigmatic "Faceless Man" again in season 5 of the fantasy drama series, even though he hasn't popped back up in the books yet.

HBO's small screen adaptation of George R.R. Martin's "Song Of Ice And Fire" saga may be gearing up for another pretty big change from the source material when the show returns next year for its fifth season. According to the German agency (via Spoiler TV) of Tom Wlaschiha, "the actor is shooting a 2014 episode of the crime solving series Tatort entitled, “Borowski und die armen Kinder von Gaarden, ” and after that, in August, he’ll begin filming on Game of Thrones. The agency notes that Tom is in the main cast." When last we saw Jaqen, he was giving Arya a very special coin and teaching her the words she would need to gain passage to Braavos at the end of season 4: "Valar Morghulis". Although fans expected to see him again at some point in the books, he hasn't shown his face(s) yet, so if he returns for the next season of the show it'll be yet another example of showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff doing their own thing. Still, nice to see the murderous charmer again anyway.

@CaptShipwreck, John Snow gave her Needle. We didn't see him die though it is implied that he is. My theory is that he is actually the faceless man, he escaped somehow.

Thats kinda cool. Now I wonder if in the next book, Arya actually meets up with him again. This could be a huge book spoiler.

I wonder..........if I start reading the books now, would Martin be finished with this series, by the time I catch up to him?

Well. Dont think that Stoneheart will be in it. (SPOILERS AHEAD)

Too bad. That show will get MINUS from me if they dont bring her. Really. That would suck. Im almost through with be Books and I cannot see the Problem they have. I think this show is going to move FAR away from the Books now cuz Bran & Sansa Storys are almost done..

I think he will be the Kindly Man of the Faceless Man, but even then they have caught up to the books already so some filler is needed until Martin actually writes the damn books.
ConnorJMacleod

They dont need fillers. They need to focus a little more on Iron men and Dorne.

They could focus maybe on the Brotherhood Without Banners if they want. AFFC/ADWD mixed as one can give them two seasons at the very least... one season for both books is way to little for a meager ten episodes, and even then stuff like Tyrion-JC/YG and all the build up to the battles we got in ADWD won't happen until the second season covering AFFC/ADWD.

It wouldn't make a lot of sense since he's a Faceless Man… However, he was awesome in season 2.

I have 2 thoughts... 1. Good riddance to stone heart. In the book I'm sure she will serve a purpose but to this point that incarnation of the character hasn't done much and she was my least favorite to begin with.
2. The show may use Jaqen to stream line Arys training. In the book it's awesome but it's slow. I'm hoping that's the reason. In the book her training is awesome, I just really think they will look to streamline it.

I think the end of the show will be very different from the end of the books which is kinda cool. They have barely mentioned rhaegars prophecy of a prince that was promised or r+l=j in the show, so they might not even go there. So the books can give the jon snow fans the ending they want and maybe the shows ending appeases dany fans? I dont mind stoneheart not being in the show, but the azor ahai prophecy and r+L=j theory are my favorite partsof the story. If the show is gonna explore jons parentage i hope they pull it off in a satisfying way...

They'll reuse his character in a location that the book readers will recognize.

Arya's character arch in Braavos is one of the most interesting side quests in the entire saga. Really looking forward to it.

i dont see why not. also in the books he sort of has and sort of hasn't come back already. its easy to miss or at least it was for me but it's implied in feast that he stole the identity of one of the apprentices at the place where they train the maesters and is impersonating him for some reason. you have to connect the details and the events in the prologue and a portion of one of the sam pov chapters much later in the book. the book jumps back and forth chronologically so i didn't even pick up on it at all until someone pointed this out after i read book 4 and at that point when i went back and re read the prologue and that particular chapter it seemed obvious. i couldn't believe i missed it the first time through. that's all we know of him so far in the books so there's a pretty good opportunity in the show for more jaqen

Sounds like some of you expect this show to limp along with totally original plots while they wait how ever many years for Martin to put out the last two books. As was pointed out, Martin works on some of the episodes for the show, and had also shared the ending with the show runners. There doesn't need to be filler at all. They may simply be using ploys and characters to get to that ending that will differ from the books. The show will only have two or three more seasons as it is though.

Only 3 seasons left :(
They have to cut things, but I hope Euron and Victarion are in it, the Iron Isles need more exposure. Season 5 takes us to Dorne and Bravos for sure. Season 6 Iron Isles and Old Town?, season Stormlands and Far, Far North?

Also, sorry guys but according to Michelle Fairley, her character is dead and she isn't returning to the series.
