GAME OF THRONES: Kit Harington Eyed For Westeros Return In JON SNOW Sequel Series

Kit Harington played Jon Snow in all eight seasons of Game of Thrones, and the actor could make his return to Westeros for a sequel series revolving around his popular character. Read on for details...

For many fans, Game of Thrones' final season was something of a let-down. Yes, there was a lot to love (including some epic battles), but everything from the fate of Daenerys Targaryen to who ended up on the Iron Throne proved to be incredibly divisive. As a result, we've since seen an endless stream of petitions with people demanding the final batch of episodes be remade!

That's never going to happen, of course, but Game of Thrones might just find redemption courtesy of a sequel series currently in the works at HBO Max.

While it's said to still be in the very early stages of development, the plan according to The Hollywood Reporter (via SFFGazette.com) is to tell the post-Westeros story of Jon Snow, a.k.a. Aegon Targaryen. Should the series become a reality, Kit Harington would reprise the role that put him on the map.

The last time we saw Jon in season 8 of Game of Thrones, he returned to the Night's Watch and left Westeros behind him after killing Daenerys. There are lots of places this story could take him, and it would obviously be an original tale seeing as George R.R. Martin still hasn't finished his Song of Ice and Fire saga (never mind starting work on a follow-up).

There's no word on who would be involved with this show from a creative standpoint.

Adding a Jon Snow series to the mix means HBO now has seven Game of Thrones projects in the works in addition to the upcoming House of the Dragon prequel. Others include 10,000 Ships, 9 Voyages, and Dunk and Egg. We're hoping this one pans out, but it's clearly still very early days.

Harington is likely to have a busy few years ahead. After starring in Marvel Studios' Eternals, the expectation is that he will return as Dane Whitman to chronicle the character's transformation into Black Knight (potentially alongside Mahershala Ali in the upcoming Blade movie).

Are you excited to potentially spend more time with Harington's Jon Snow?

Seriously is anyone really that interest in sequels to book adaptions when there is no material for the sequel to adapt

Fantastic Beasts just got worst and worst

Game Of Thrones went to crap when it caught up with the books already

Ring of power looks more like Narnia than lord of the rings (and The Hobbit trilogy already sucked when they had material)

Man I hope the Outlander books end before the show gets to season 9, writer said 10 will probably be the final book and she only has 9 out

@dracula - The Hobbit should've just been condensed into one movie, it was such an obvious money grab to spread it over a trilogy and just milk the loyal LOTR fans.

@Kadara - yup, cut out all the pointless lord of the rings cameos and just give us a 3 hour adaption of what was in the actual book

@dracula - I think Ring of Power deserves to be seen first before we draw any conclusions.

@Kadara - I thought. Hobbit could have been split into 2 movies pretty easily. Three movies was just bloated.

@GhostDog - Can't believe Bran didn't see it coming. (Or maybe he did and was just too disinterested to bother).

When it was good, it ranked among the greatest tv series ever made. I’ll definitely give it a shot!

I'm not saying this couldn't be good, but why not try something new instead.

I think there is potential stories based off of the table top universes of Shadowrun, Dead Lands or Rifts.

Each one has loads of content and would make for a very cool tv show.

If not table top RPGs, why not look to books that haven't been brought to life yet, like Bas Lag or Temeraire.

If it ends up happening will it be on HBO or HBO Max? Given the still ongoing streaming war and their interest in promoting their app. (Which used to be HBO Go before, they don't want us to remember that BTW)

@NinnesMBC - This is good news and hopefully a few years later Flash will be rebooted with a new actor to play Barry Allen.

@BlackIceJoe - That seems to be the only option left for the character in the long terms plans for the big screen. The Internet is already making waves for Lucas Till to be the new Barry for example.

@NinnesMBC - They should just shoot some sort of flashpoint scene at the end of the Flash and replace him with a different actor. He [frick]s with the timeline all the time so its a perfect way out.

@Himura - It's possible the ending (if some of those leaks were true) will resemble a version of that if they're going to reboot aspects of the DCEU. What more are wondering beyond what will be the new face of Barry is how will WB Discovery navigate the whole thing: press tour or not and just straight to HBO Max? I think that's the meat and main issue.

@NinnesMBC - still just baffling how WB is not just outright making a statement condemning his actions and vowing to "explore their options" regarding the film.

He must have something on WB execs...

@Blergh - I agree, it's very reckless of Zaslav to not release a statement now. It seems they are really hoping it all tones down. Very negligent.

Had this idea for a GoT spin-off centering around Arya called "Game of Gods" where we'd follow Arya in her quest to kill the drowned god, in the fallout she'd have to take out all the gods in Westeros who doomed her family be dafault. Could go that route with Jon as well.

He was by far my favourite character in the show before season 7 and 8 just had him stand around and do next to nothing. His Night Watch days were the best, so I would open to seeing more of that. About time they start to rectify the disrespect they showed him in the last two seasons.

I would watch if it was a limited series (like 6 episodes), fully scripted out from the start. And not some open-ended, beat-a-dead-horse-athon.
