Last Month, HBO’s programming president said the final season of Game of Thrones would air during the first half of 2019, and now the series' VFX supervisor has narrowed down the premiere date even further.

While speaking to the Huffington Post, Joe Bauer discussed the possibility of Game of Thrones earning even more Emmy awards in the future and revealed that the show likely won't be eligible for the 2019 Emmys.

"In two years we’ll be eligible for the Season 8 work, which we’re just beginning now. We’re going to be toiling away on Season 8 until May of 2019, so it’s eight or nine months away. But the prequel is starting to shoot in February, at least the pilot. So we’ll still have quite a lot to do on Season 8 when they’re beginning."

Obviously, this doesn't provide us with an exact premiere date for Season 8, but the fact that Bauer believes the fantasy drama won't be eligible for the 2019 Emmys means the bulk of the season might not air until after May 31, 2019 - which is the official cut-off date.

However, Game of Thrones may still be nominated next year, as the Emmys do occasionally make exceptions if a few episodes debut before the cut-off date.

I'm fine if I have to until 2020 or somewhere around that year, because I want the show to go out with a bang, then HBO can make a live action Fables or Saga show next.

Take your time. Get it right. I'd rather wait than get some bad CGI(looks over at DC & Warner Bros.)

I really want to see this, but I can understand them wanting to wait til it’s perfect.

In other news, I’ve moved to New York recently and saw the building they used for the daily Bugle in the movies while going for a walk.
