HBO Renews Game of Thrones For a Second Season

HBO has already given their new series Game of Thrones a second season renewal, deciding not to wait to see how ratings hold up throughout the season before making a decision.

Reports Deadline, "Like it did with Boardwalk Empire in September, HBO just renewed Game of Thrones moments after the ratings for the premiere episode were in. For Game of Thrones, those ratings were solid, not great. But, also like with Boardwalk Empire, HBO invested in elaborate sets and designs in re-creating the world from George R.R. Martin's books, so a second season was considered a sure thing."

How is 4.2 Million viewers for the premier not great?

This is the best show on TV right now!

I saw the premiere of Games of Thrones, and it was very promising. Now I got this and Camelot!

I finally watched the premiere last night in it's entirety. I enjoyed it and am probably in for the long haul, so this is definitely good news to me.

I liked the premiere myself.... Now as far as the BEST on tv, i dont know. I need two more episodes to compare it to Camelot. But who cares, I've got them both set in the dvr :-)

Camelot is not even in the same ball park. The casting in Camelot is poor, the kid playing Arthur is terrible and their fight scenes are lacklustre to say the least. The quality of the production for Game of Thrones is motion picture level, Camelot looks like a studio show with a bit of sex shoved in.

Hells YEAH!!

Loved the pilot and can't wait to see the rest of the first season. I heard episode 5 is a particularly excellent episode that will really move forward the series!!

As a long time fan of the books I was glad to see that it was a faithful adaptation. Also glad to hear that HBO is picking it up for a second season, now if they can just keep from dumping it before it finishes like their other great shows Deadwood and Rome. (And if Martin ever does finish it)
