More Game Of Thrones Season 2 Casting News

It seems two smaller roles have also been cast following yesterdays announcement of Gemma Whelan as Yara Greyjoy. The Qartheen merchant-prince Xaro Xhoan Daxos and Davos' son Matthos Seaworth. Click to find out who will be playing them..

First up is Xaro Xhoan Daxos. In the books he is a representative of Quarth who offers Dany advice on who she can trust and who she should bribe on her arrival to the city. He will be played by British actor Nonso Anozie, who also has a role in Conan The Barbarian with Jason Momoa(Khal Drogo).

Fans of the book might remember that the Quartheen are described as having skin as “pale as milk”. Obviously Anozie's casting means that the show-runners are going a different direction with that.

And then we have what would appear to be the very small role(unless the character has been beefed up from the book) of Davos Seaworth's son Matthos. He will be played by young unknown Northern Irish actor Kerr Logan.

Maybe they are switching the Quartheen look with that of the Summer Islanders

Yeah, I thought Xaro was a very lean kinda starved Grima Wormtongue like character? Oh well, I guess we'll see how this goes.

I'm really hoping the producers don't pull a True Blood with this show and make the first season a lot like the book and then change a shit ton of stuff into the following seasons.

Oh, and having read all of the books I must say I really can't wait to see Stannis brought to life on the screen. I think he is a very interesting character.

No plot? No character development? You're kidding me, right??

Game of Thrones is a series that requires that you pay attention. I didn't begin reading the books until I was well into the show and yet I had no problem following what was going on.

That said, it's not for everyone. If you tuned in expecting LOTR, there's a good chance you'll be disappointed. Game of Thrones is nowhere near as black and white as LOTR and the fantasy elements are secondary to character and dialogue (while still serving the various plot lines). It's much more in keeping with Shakespeare than LOTR...

Luke Goss would have been cool Daxos.

@AlexDeLarge87

Sansa is very naive and makes some incredibly horrible choices in A Game of Thrones but you'll find that she becomes a much more sympathetic character later on.

Anyway, the casting that I'm most eagerly awaiting is Strong Belwas, though I haven't a clue who'd be right for the part.

Nordberg@ Just finished the first book so i truelly hope that Sansa gets her head of the clouds and learns something from her mistakes. Joffrey... i promise to hate forever.
The show didnt raised my love for these two characters at all. On the contrary it made me hate them more.
But hey... im going to continue reading this series and cant wait to see the second season of the show!:)

More GoT casting news...

winter-is-coming.net reports that Jaqen H’ghar will be portrayed by German actor Tom Wlaschiha.

"Wlaschiha has appeared in numerous German films and TV series’ and also had a few small roles in Hollywood films such as Enemy at the Gates, Munich and Valkyrie. You can check out his showreel at his official site.

Jaqen H’ghar is one of a group of criminals that is being taken to the Wall by Yoren along with Arya. Tower of the Hand notes his appearance in the book as “slender and fine-featured, half of his hair is red and the other half is white.” HBO describes Jaqen as “sly, enigmatic, and a dangerous criminal, part of Yoren’s group of recruits taken from King’s Landing to join the Night’s Watch. A foreigner from the Free Cities, he speaks broken English. Seductive, charming, and very dangerous."

@Alex

Yeah, Joffrey is completely despicable. Same goes for Cersei, Lord Walder Frey and a few others that you have yet to become acquainted with.

But just wait, cuz you ain't seen nuthin' yet! ;)
