Arguably the most popular character from the first season of Game Of Thrones is the diminutive Tyrion Lannister. Peter Dinklage recently won an Emmy for his portrayal of "the Imp" and Access Hollywood asked him what we can expect from Tyrion in the currently shooting second season..

“It’s a really good season this season. My character goes somewhere that he hasn’t been before and I’m not gonna say anything else, but it’s fun to see a character like Tyrion in the world, in the game… the political game. He was on the outside of it and now he’s on the inside. It’s fun what happens.”

In the upcoming season Tyrion makes a new unlikely ally in the young Squire Poderick Payne..

“I have a squire… He’s only poured my wine so far, but he’s very good at pouring wine. I think that’s a relationship that develops a bit as the show goes along, but we’re in the early stages of our relationship now, me and my squire.”

Fans of the books will know that at the end of this season we will see the "Battle Of Blackwater", and Tyrion will see plenty of action. Asked if he has done any preparation for this so far he responds..

“So far, not so much, but the first season I was thrown around a bit more than this season so far, But you never know what they have in store. At the end of the season some things happen, but I’m not gonna give anything away.”

He may not want to, but I will! If you want to know what becomes of Tyrion in the battle highlight the passage below.

Spoilers: Well Tyrion really grows a set at the end of this season and when The Hound bottles it when the enemy begins using fire the Dwarf leads the Lannisters into battle. He cuts down many men but is betrayed by a member of his own guard and loses most of his nose. He would have been killed but is saved by his young squire Poderick.

Before anyone who hasn't read the books gets upset, UltimateSpiderman didn't spoil anything. Tyrion doesn't die in the second book. Or in any of the subsequent ones that I've read (though I haven't gotten to the new one yet.)

Really excited for this, the first season was done so well.
