These books are incredible. This series is going to be amazing. It's like an adult Lord of the Rings. There is so much shit that happens in these books. The plot is crazy...mad twists. If you haven't read the books do yourself a favor then get ready to watch the series.

The first few books were amazing but the last one he put out was complete crap. It took Martin 5 years between A Storm of Swords and A Feast for Crows and we have been waiting 5 more years for the next book. I'm looking forward to the HBO series to see what they do with it but also so it will force Martin to finish the damn books!

I am on the 4th book now "A Feast for Crows". These books are some of the most addictive books I've ever read. Only the first book takes a few chapters to get into, because of the huge amount of character development, but even that is interesting. The closest thing to compare it to is the Lord of the Rings series, but it is so much better, darker and more adult. Don't get attached to any characters, because you have no idea who will live from one book to the next. I know the series should be one of the best things on tv if they are even partially true to the text.

@grif its going to be epic, HBO does not let down, I do not really remember the last time that they have, even Hung was a funny as show that I can't wait to see with entourage and true blood this summer. HBO makes the best shows hands down.

I am stoked for this one and going to get HBO just to watch it. Excellent cast and if they stay fairly true to the source HBO should rock this one. Martin has been pretty hands on with this project and is pleased, so I would expect it to be true to his source material.

I love this series and started reading it 2 weeks after the very 1st book came out. My biggest concern is that George RR Martin is too distracted by the TV and being a quasi-celebrity that he'll never get the next 3 books done before he dies of a heart attack. He easily looks 10 years older than he is and I fear he is not long for this world. He's given us only 1 book in 10 years and I don't thin he has a clue how to resolve it.

read the first book in july right before i found out about the show... my brother turned me onto it... he has like all the books and graphic novels and is a really big fan, so when i finished reading the hobbit and the lord of the rings last spring i picked up a game of thrones.
im interested in seeing if season 1 is the whole first book...in that case if it gets a season 2 , they might change the name to a clash of kings. which would be cool.
still pretty weirded out how just after finishing book 1... and it was really good... i see the trailer on hbo... i was pumped lol

on second thought if they drag out the first book over multiple seasons it would lend to keeping certain actors around for a little while longer. ie people die quite often and some of my favorite characters might get the ax sooner than later if they rush through things. there are two protagonists on two different continents lol ,two story's at once, so they may very well have to if its only a 10 episode season. might split the hour into two half hours. ned stark and westeros for the first 30 minutes and daneyres on essos for the second half hour.

@BetaRayB - Excellent points. I want those last 3 books available ASAP, and he doesn't exactly look like a spring chicken or like he's in an effective exercise program. Still can't wait to see the series, but if those last 3 books don't come out, I will be really upset.
