SDCC'11: Game Of Thrones Panel Vids

Check out 5 vids covering the entire panel for HBO's Game Of Thrones, which turned out to be the most popular panel by far from the first day of Comic Con. Some hints are given about future seasons, with the controversial "Red Wedding" also being mentioned..

Highlights from the panel are many, but most is humorous quotes and quips from the cast etc. Any info on further seasons is pretty much limited to the following. Apparently by season 3 the show will begin to deviate from the books..

What can we expect from the second season? Benioff replies, "Everyone dies, sorry." Weiss answers, "It was all a dream." Benioff says that Season Three will be when things may need to start deviating from the books. He still doesn't know if Book 3 will be one season or one-and-a-half. They're building to a big scene in "Storm of Swords" -- R.W. in specific -- and that's what they want to get up to. "I think we're going to get to R.W. and if that happens, I can retire," Benioff says.


R.W stands for "Red Wedding". I won't spoil what that is for those who haven't read the books.

Absolutely LOVE Game of Thrones, but I think the true selling point for me to buy the DVDs is mostly to see Jason Momoa's audition when he does the Haka. :D

Well, that was entertaining. I cannot wait to read what happens on the Red Wedding. I can only imagine its going to involve someone we all love getting slaughtered again

DDub, yep much slaughter to much loved characters (plural) in many many foul ways. It makes what happened to Eddard seem tame. But take heart it is way down the line if Book 2 is covering a season and a half we most likely won't see the Red Wedding until season 5 of the series. By then everyone will really love the characters that meet their demise so terrible a way and the reaction will be even more crestfallen than Ned losing his head.

I found season 1 so wonderfully done! The characters and stories were so rich in their introductions. I would hope somehow writers could devote more time to each of the kingdom stories. I do hope too that there will be a way to incorporate Jason Momoa's character in to future (season 3) writing/episodes. The word "flashbacks" was mentioned on the panel and seems the most feasible. I hope writers will give it some thought! I would love for them to explore how his character's relationship with Daenerys evolved and how this young girl was able to capture the heart of a barbaric king and his khalasar.
