As much as I am really looking forward to this series, I still have a lot of questions about how they are going to address some of the complexities that Martin has put into his novels. Even things like pacing are a complete misery to me, I mean, "A Game of thrones" alone could span at least 2 seasons, even with hour long episodes. It seems logical to me to end season one with a certain character's death (which will remain nameless to keep from spoiling it for anyone)

Then there's the complexity of the character list, I just don't see them being able to do justice to the plot lines for characters like Arya or Bran, especially if they want to focus on the BIG characters of the first novel, and that is unfortunate because EVERY character has a wonderfully rich story. And where does that leave them for the subsequent novels?

I suppose if the series is as successful as it could potentially be, then they will just run the series for as many seasons as it takes to do it well. I would think that would be quite a long running show. Which sounds great to me.

Layperson, I fully expect the show to be great but end up like Deadwood and Carnivale. At least with this we have the books to let us know what happens next. I don't see HBO finishing this series.

@juggy4711- We have the books up to a certain point and then they just stop and we wait and wait and wait for the new one to come out and it never does. I'm starting to think A Dance with Dragons doesn't even exist and he's just been stringing us along for 3 years.

Considering Martin has been very hands-on with this project I am very optimistic as to how they are gong to address the complexities that were mentioned. I guess we will get to find out soon. Regardless, it should shine amongst a lot of the other shows that are out there. Very stoked about this series!
