malin akerman is worrying me the most. in the fourth trailer she says "who would wanna kill us now?" i don't remember that anywhere in the book, certainly not the scene when her and Dan are in the Gunga diner. i love her, i think she is gorgeous, but i worry that she will play Laurie with an "innocent" tone as opposed to the "bitter" tone of voice Laurie had in the comic. Laurie is supposed to feel like a victim, she isn't supposed to be one. it always twinges me when they add dialogue, but that is sorta inevitable.

From the clips I've seen she seems pretty solid, sometimes people breakout with the right directing environment and do a great job where before they've been weaker actors.

i have seen her in a couple of HBO shows were she was pretty good..but i have to agree with quagmire, she was terrible in 27 dresses..which i watched on a plane!! honest!!

honestly, I thought she did an excellent job playing a crazy character in The Heartbreak Kid. As far as 27 dresses, never seen it, it was a chick flick, expect poor acting. She'll do fine in this movie, I had my doubts, but they're going away

There were plenty of renown actors who wanted to do this or could have been tapped for it, I think Snyder knew what he was doing with his choices, also the less blockbuster actors can be leaned on more by a director which inevitably leads to better performances. (Eg. LOTR, big actors now but at the time relatively under the radar people)

I have a good comparison to explain this movie to people that occurred to me: It's to superhero movies what Unforgiven was to cowboy movies, except even better (not that unforgiven was necessarily the first realistic gunslinger flick, but with Eastwood in it (and directing) it certainly cleared the slate on the genre a lot.

I also have a joke for you guys: So Sally Jupiter and Janey Slater are hurrying together down the street to catch the bus, Sally says, "Do you smell burning hair?". =)

Wow, i never really realize how ridiculous my handle is until i see somebody else type it back to me. Anyways, to correct you, the Minutemen were the old team from the 40's, the "Crimebusters" were the team that consisted of the modern heroes. from what i heard, Rorschach's line in the film is not like that in the film, but dan's is. and supposedly, the way dan says it, he does not apply the name to the team directly, but rather uses the term as an alternative for the word "vigilante". This was always the case in the novel. obviously when the kids spray paint "who watches the watchmen?" on a wall, they refer to vigilantes in general. I doubt, they will even mention the names of the teams at all. it just wastes time in conversations when everybody already knows what they are talking about. instead of saying "back when we were crimebusters" they just say "back in the day". that's the trouble with film, sometimes you just need to get right to the point. in the movie, i have a feeling the only way you are gonna even know that "the minutemen" were even called that was because of the blatantly obvious sign behind them in their group picture.
