Audiences fell in love with Hayley Atwell’s portrayal of Agent Carter way back in 2011 when she debuted in
Captain America: The First Avenger. Atwell is quite the MCU alum, having racked up four or five appearances throughout the movies (albeit out of chronological order). Atwell starred in her own One-Shot short, which evolved into an entire ABC series

Sadly, Peggy passed away during the events of Captain America: Civil War, which featured her funeral. Fans since theorized that she could appear in Captain Marvel thanks to its 90s setting, or even an appearance in one of the upcoming Avengers sequels. Though she may not have any confirmed appearances lined up, Atwell isn't closing the book on the MCU just yet.
In an interview with Parade, Atwell was asked about what future she may have in the MCU. Here's what the actress said:
Because it’s a genre-specific superhero piece, I’m sure anything could happen. It’s such a huge world. I do think there’s something in the completion of the fact that they’re doing their back-to-back Avengers at the moment, which will complete an era, so I can’t see how that would be. But that’s what’s remarkable about Marvel is they keep going. Each film tends to further what they’re doing, so I wouldn’t rule it out.
Any possible period piece or flashbacks could find a way to get Agent Carter involved in a more familiar way but with many believing Avengers 4 to be time travel-centric, that could serve avenue to bring her back too. Set pics of the Avengers sequel certainly seem to indicate a return to Captain America's home-era. Some theories for Avengers 4 surmise that Cap could get a happy ending, going back in time and finally get the dance with Peggy he never had - which would also leave the door open for Chris Evans to return as an older Steve Rogers down the line.
The comic book version of Peggy recently stepped into the mantle of Captain America. Perhaps Atwell's name could be thrown into the ring, along with Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson, The Falcon) and Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes, The Winter Soldier), on who could possibly take over Captain America should Steve Rogers meet his uneluctable fate.
