Marvel's AGENT CARTER TV Show Greenlit?

While Marvel's first TV endeavour hasn't gone perfectly with fans, it seems Marvel aren't giving up on the medium yet. It looks like the show is on it's way!

After rumours surfaced that yet another Marvel TV show was in the works last year few suspected it would revolve around Captain America: The First Avengers' Peggy Carter.

But one Blu-ray One Shot later and it appears Hayley Atwell, 31, will be starring as Peggy Carter, with filming set to start at the end of 2014!

British tabloid paper The Mirror are reporting that Atwell will be spending 6 months in LA working on the show. They are also reporting that they have been told the series will be “Marvel’s major project of 2014, and it will be a big budget production."

all it is, is AOS in the 1940's. AOS clearly isn't doing very well! Who's idea was it to green light this? As cool as Agent Carter was, she wasn't the reason everyone liked the Captain america: First avenger film, cap was! Jeph Loab needs to get his shit together.

After the one-shot it should basically be Agents of SHIELD in the 40's. Peggy Carter, Howard Stark and Dum Dum Dugan. It'd be cool to have such subthemes as: whatever happened to the howling commandos? Maybe we see Falsworth as Union Jack? How did Howard Stark meet Tony's mother? What about Arnim Zola? What is ZODIAC?

They should just do a 2 or 3 part flashback episode on AOS...

I might write an article on this later but I have a theory of what Avengers Age of Ultron will be about. I think in Captain America The Winter Soldier Shield will be infiltrated by Zodiac which is kind of the modern Hydra. Created by some of its old members. In age of ultron i think we'll see Zodiac create the Thunderbolts (made out of people they found and people the gave powers to) to fight The Avengers. Eventually they will create Ultron or will hack into Ultron if he is built by Shield and in the last part of the movie will be about Ultron destroying them and attacking the world. At the end the Avengers will disband and Shield will be replaced by Hammer (Who will becreated by the time traveling Kang disguised as a modern day politician). Marvel's Agents of Shield will receive a new format and will be about Coulson creating a team to fight Hammer. Also Hammer will be experimenting with the Inhumans which will lead to many movies including Avengers 3 in which the Terrigen Bomb will be activated.

Well this may be really cool! I would love to know the history or the start of SHIELD. And it would be great to have Tony's dad featured in the show.

I used to despise the Agent Carter rumours, but that was before Marvel announced the Netflix shows.

I'm at peace with this now.

They probably should have done this in the first place. It'll let them keep the slightly childish tone with the excuse that it's set in the '40s/'50s.

Bearjew - 1/2/2014, 3:36 PM
@Alphadog good theory but I hope the Terrigen bomb snt what causes the Inhumans, that'd just be an excuse to make them more into MCU versions of the X-Men. But do you think Alexander Pierce could be Kang?

Going to be awesome! I hope they call it PEGGY CARTER AND THE HOWLING COMMANDO'S! A more SHIELD origin story on one side, and on the other a rouge war team on the other.

Are you kidding me right!? Give us a Sgt. Fury and Howling Commandos TV SHOW and make it like how they did Band of Brothers! Marvel...oh Marvel.

So much potential...

Honestly though, Marvel and Hayley Atwell are exaggerating the so-called "enormous fan response" to Peggy - I've heard people talk from Atwell's rack to her performance, but I've never heard anyone praise the character like they are...

let's try and be optimistic here. It's the time period of the Invaders we're talking about. People have been crying for Namor for years! Think about the possibilities: The 1st human torch, Toro, the Mad Thinker, Red Skull, Nick Fury's Howling commandos etc...

who knows ? They said Big budget, right?

Oh, Who am I kidding...

I'd actually be hopeful, had I not watched Agent of Shield...

Well, even if the show is as bad as AOS, it will still be better because of Hayley. She at least makes it watchable.

It would be interesting if they are trying to target a completely different audience (eg, fans of period dramas like Mad Men) instead of CBM fans.

I hate busting people's balls (only the people who don't deserve it) but this show is going to need all of the views it can get, especially since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is not getting the ratings it use to anymore, even though I still enjoy and watch the show. This show is going to need an eye-catching cast or anything to get people into the pilot.

Continuity error:

In the Agent Carter One Shot, Tony Stark's father says that Agent Carter will be heading up SHIELD with her, not the Strategic Homeland etc. etc. garbage.

Remember, that they only changed it to the acronym SHIELD at the end of Iron Man (2008), and so should have been called the Strategic Homeland whatever during the Agent Carter One Shot.

FAIL

Don't put her in a tv show. Do Captain America 3 and have him go back in time with her in it. it could be a great story. Anyone who actually reads comics knows I'm right.
TheAstoundingMan
TheAstoundingMan - 1/2/2014, 7:13 PM
@PeepingTom

Not really a continuity error, considering SHIELD is simply an acronym. Calling it by its full title was just a joke, and sort of went with Coulson's formal approach.
