Netflix Boss Explains Why The Online Streaming Service Won't Be Saving AGENT CARTER

The cancellation of Agent Carter on ABC did not sit well with fans, but it seems that any hopes of the series making a return have now been completely put to rest as it definitely isn't heading to Netflix!

The cancellation of Agent Carter by ABC was Marvel's first real embarrassment on the small screen, especially after they put a fair bit of money into the series after that popular One Shot stuck a chord with fans a few years back. For some reason, the show just failed to find an audience on the network, and just the fact that it received a second season felt like a pretty huge miracle for fans of Peggy.

Well, don't expect another of those as Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos made it clear today that the online streaming service won't be resurrecing the drama despite the passionate fanbase.

Why? It ultimately boils down to a business decision by Netflix as they a) already have more than enough Marvel content, and b) couldn't get Agent Carter out to a large enough portion of their audience anyway. "We’re looking for truly original brands to own, and in that Marvel space we already have [original comic book shows] – so that was mostly why. They also have some output deal complexities. So when you pick it up, being able to pick it up globally is difficult even after it’s canceled. Some of those output partners still had it on the air, so they would argue its covered by their output [deals]. Unfortunately, it was a business decision more than a creative one."

So, that's that for Peggy Carter. The season two cliffhanger will never be resolved and we won't ever get to see her form S.H.I.E.L.D., something most fans hoped the series would delve into rather than office politics.

Are you disappointed that Netflix isn't bringing back the show? Sound off below.

@KikinGonzalez - Misty Knight's talents also seem sizable. I wouldn't complain if she puts them on full display.

Marvel really dropped the ball with the whole cancellation on a cliff-hanger. It's unlikely to be resolved and it'll be another issue with their continuity that the story was not finished.

I would have preferred they did another series of Agent Carter. Sure it turned into terrible romance triangles and blandness however it deserves another season more than Agents Of Shield does

Did the series end on a major cliff hanger? Perhaps they'll have a comic series to finish up where it left off.

I hope they can tie up that loose end and may tell it through Agents of SHIELD.

@TruePunishment - or at least a one-shot, disney has really screwed us on those and special features with every blu-ray since Winter Soldier

Truly original brands... like Full House....

(I'm just kidding, I'm sure that last part actually makes a revival fairly difficult. But it wouldn't stop Netflix from doing a Liberty Legion show with Peggy Carter as a lead character if Atwell was available and game.)

I would enjoy seeing more flashbacks to her days on Agents of SHIELD if they can get her for them.

PLEASE WRAP UP THE CLIFFHANGER WITH SOME SORT OF ONE SHOT OR COMIC BOOK!

And this is why DC keeps their tv shows and movies separate. If the show gets cancelled it won't screw with continuity and stuff...

@MFLuder - her story wasn't SUPER INTEGRAL to the overall MCU continuity; the overall narrative.

It'll just be a small piece of history unexplained. A mystery.

Well that sucks. I really liked Agent Carter. I thought it was a good way to show technologies we didnt know were discovered during that time in the MCU.

Well, this doesn't break my heart. As much as I wanted to like the series, I couldn't buy into it. I found it rather drab and lack luster. Time to move along and pursue more interesting offerings.
