Potential AGENT CARTER Marvel TV Show In the Works

While the Agent Carter short film director has ensured there're more Peggy Carter stories to tell, it seems they're being developed into a new ABC series surrounding Hayley Atwell's beloved character.

A week from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s big premiere on ABC Network, word is out on Marvel/Disney's next potential small screen adaptation. According to Deadline, a new live-action series is being developed surrounding Peggy Carter, who was introduced in the Marvel cinematic universe as Captain America's main squeeze and a French Resistance in WWII played by Hayley Atwell. But it's the English actress' reprisal of the character in the Marvel short film Agent Carter, which features on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray, that has led to the new potential ABC/Marvel series. Marvel failed to comment, but Deadline claims: "I hear the company is working on a concept for a potential TV series inspired by Agent Carter," which was directed by Marvel's co-president Louis D’Esposito. The report adds, "I hear the project is in very early stages, one of several in the works at Marvel, and is in the process of locking in a writer." This isn't too surprisingly especially considering D’Esposito has declared that the Agent Carter one-shot "isn’t the last Peggy Carter story." The filmmaker told the Huffington Post last week: "We want to tell more [stories] because she’s so good. I remember when we first met her to play the role of Peggy Carter, and I was with Joe Johnston and we were in London and you try to keep a poker face, but I couldn’t hide and Joe couldn’t hide our feelings. 'She’s the one! She’s the one!' She has a certain quality, you just can’t articulate that. People gravitate to her, love her performance, even when she’s beating up people." Agent Peggy Carter will be seen next in Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier next summer. Anyhow, with The Avengers' Item 47 short film leading up to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s development, and Marvel seemingly heading the same route with Agent Carter, could these Marvel One-Shots actually be considered pilots? What do you think?

Who gives a [frick]ing shit about agents?

Seriously Marvel, you're the House of Ideas. I'm a DC fan but you have some of the cooler and badass heroes on the Planet,(DC has way better and cooler villains so it evens out).

Stop focusing on [frick]ing agents. They're replaceable.

Do Luke Cage or Iron Fist or Daredevil or Punisher or Black Panther or one of those kinds of TV shows.

Hell at least DC has Green Arrow on TV and Flash coming.

Seriously, why do a second agents show? I mean come on. I can understand doing on but do we really need another? Especially a period based agents show to mix with the modern day agents show.

Sigh, all I want is Daredevil Marvel. Give me Daredevil.

Why not have it be part of Agents of SHIELD? Like Godfather II style, flashbacks, the history of the founding of SHIELD. Weave in a cool parallel story.

@OldGreg

Agreed! And honestly I'm not sold on the new S.H.I.E.L.D television show. It just looks bland and the characters set to appear in the show are bland as well.

I'd prefer a Punisher or Heroes for Hire show over Shield.

Meh..... If there going to do a tv show on a female SHIELD agent I would rather it be Mockingbird.

@Optimus I believe it was Gilmore Hodges....I saw it as a homage to the late great Gil Hodges...1st baseman of the Brooklyn Dodgers, manager of the 1969 Miricale Mets? He did historically serve the country in the beginning if his baseball career. Am i just imagining things? Was i the only one who caught this?

I like it as long a Hayley Atwell comes back. Outside of that, no. Punisher, Heroes for Hire, retry a Blade series. Something based off a Marvel property. Get the Hulk show going.

I'm pretty sure the crap that @LEVI spews comes out so fast that he never reads what he types before he posts it. Maybe it's me being a grammar snob, but I have a hard time taking him seriously when he is constantly leaving out words and making stupid mistakes.

well, this isn't comic books. i know everyone would love it if they had spidey, f4 and wolvie, and a black panther movie and a doctor strange movie an inhumans movie but if they did all that shit when everyone wanted it, they'd run out of franchises to focus on. I'm assuming marvel studio is in this for the long haul so they should pace themselves with whatever characters they're developing.

Who gives two shits about agents of the Marvel Universe?! If you're going to make a MARVEL show, maybe you should make one with a MARVEL HERO! Yes, Hayley Atwell is gorgeous but that doesn't mean her character needs a show. As @LEVI said, you don't need two shows about agents, Agents of SHIELD will be plenty.

Levi is right...and im as Pro-Marvel as you get. I'd much rather get a TV show with a hero. Hell, how about one that NO movie plans have ever been in the works like MoonKnight. MoonKnight would make a bad ass show

But it would be cool for marvel to do super hero tv shows! Instead of secret agents
Why not dare devil show!!??!!!! Thatd be cool

Maybe some episodes of Agents of SHIELD could be focused on flashbacks to the early days of the organization with Howard, Peggy, and Dum Dum operating out of the mansion from the end of the one shot

I am up for a Marvel Western for either TV or Cinema. They could either use the format ABC used in the 70s for mystery theater (MacLeod, Colombo, & McMillan and Wife) and rotate a different character every week, or put them altogether in a motion picture.

Come on Marvel make it happen!
