RUMOR: Chances For A Third Season Of AGENT CARTER Are Looking Good

A new report has seemingly revealed that, against all odds, ABC is actually leaning toward renewing Marvel's Agent Carter for a third season after all. Come learn all the details now!

With its low ratings and its star Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger) signing on for the lead role in Conviction, a new ABC pilot, things were looking quite bleak for the future of Marvel's first female-led television series Agent Carter, however, that may not be the case for much longer.

It's probably best to take this next bit of news with a grain of salt, but according to sources for Nerd Reactor, ABC has indeed decided to renew the well-received series for a third season. However, before fans can start jumping up in joy and celebrating, it should be noted that in ComicBook's follow-up report, they learned that while there may be truth to the original story, Season 3 is "not a done deal" quite yet.

Now, it's a waiting game to see what happens to Hayley Atwell's beloved 'Peggy Carter' or if her rumored cameo in Captain America: Civil War will be her final bow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter before the second season finale last Tuesday, Atwell spoke on leaving the door open for a potential season three: "I'm really satisfied with where it ends and what happens to Peggy. I'm proud of this season, so if we get the opportunity to work on it again, then brilliant. Because then I'm sure I'll have even more fun working on it than I did in season two which was a lot. I don't quite know how to top that. But I'd love the opportunity to try. ... The writers have very elegantly put together this ending. I definitely want more."

So, what do you guys think? To renew or not to renew? Where would you want to see a potential Season 3 go? Sound off with your thoughts below!

“MARVEL’S AGENT CARTER” (Season 2) “Marvel’s Agent Carter” returns for a second season of adventure and intrigue, starring Hayley Atwell in the titular role of the unstoppable secret agent for the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve). But even as she discovers new friends, a new home — and perhaps even a new love — she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.

Agent Carter features:

Really hope so. Such a shame this show gets bad ratings. It's the best of the bunch.

It'd be cool if they jumped 10 years ahead every season until she retires from S.H.I.E.L.D. That way, it wraps up her story arc and ties in with her appearances in the MCU.

As a MCU fanatic, I only want to see the series return if it has better storytelling that feels more suspenseful.

I honestly felt myself bored for several episodes in season 2, whereas I think season 1 was pretty solid throughout. I think it's because Markus and McFeely wrote more of the first season and the writing staff took over for season 2. I don't know.

@PsychoticSpaceRaccoon - Fore me, it hapened the other way around. I felt more hatred for the villain(s) in season 2 than I did in season 1... but still, both seasons had a pretty lame scriptwriting. The way things wrapped up in season 2 is unforgivably bad, forced and cheesy. They should take more time to think the plot and scripts through before they start shooting...

I'm a bit fan of the show. I also like the format of airing Carter during the AOS hiatus. I didn't love the direction they went with the zero matter but that may be because I thought it was going to tie into the monolith and what was going on in AOS.

S2 wasn't as good as the first, but I'd still love to have it back. Mostly cause of Atwell, she's incredible, and I'll be checking back here for what I hope is a ton of pics of her plastered all over this comment section.

I'd love to see the founding of SHIELD with Howard Stark and all that, that is what I thought we'd be getting since they had announced the series, along with the Marvel One-Shot. That would be more exiting than whatever this zero matter thing was in this season

@aXe - That was my hope for the show since it was announced! I really liked the Peggy Carter One Shot and thought the series would really expand on it even more. Unfortunately they seem to have completely forgotten the One Shot. They've made Stark's character more of a buffoon than anything. If it get another season than I want it show her rise to S.H.I.E.L.D.

I actually liked season 2 better. With the first season, I thought it took a long time to find its footing, much like AOS season 1 did.

Overall, not a bad replacement show for AOS during hiatus but also not as good either. Wouldnt mind Marvel doing something similar with another title though. Maybe thats what they are going to do with the Mockingbird spin-off??

Season 1 atleast interested me. While it wasn't great, its good, decent and served its purpose. I tried to watch S2, bit couldn't get past 3 episodes. I feel that this should've been a 1 season show.

Another show gets replaced by Agent Carter. Most Wanted filling up the void and replacing Agent Carter, is a great idea, I wish, ABC would go along with.

Or invest the production cost on a Moon Knight Netflix series.

Let this season be the last season for Agent Carter, and let it rest in peace, without future ruination.
