Charlie Cox Confirms That DAREDEVIL Season 4 Would Have Pitted The Hero Against Bullseye

Netflix cancelled Daredevil after three seasons and now Charlie Cox has shed some light on what we would have seen had a fourth batch of episodes reached the online streaming service. Check it out...

Season three of Daredevil was praised by critics and seemingly viewed by a lot of people but that didn't stop Netflix from cancelling the Marvel series as Disney gears up to launch its own streaming platform.

While the characters certainly got something of a satisfying ending, fans were hoping to see the Man Without Fear's story continue, especially after that tease featuring the villainous Bullseye. Well, in a new interview, Cox has confirmed that the plan was indeed to pit Matt Murdock against Agent Poindexter in his new, costumed persona.

"They’d had a preliminary conversation with me about what might happen and who might be involved or what the story might be. […] [W]hat I heard was very exciting. So I had a vague sense of what the show might be. I had some idea. […] I was looking forward to Wilson Bethel kind of getting to inhabit the character of Bullseye. Season 3 was kind of an origin story for the character and how Agent Poindexter becomes that character. So I was looking forward to having a season where he really embodies the Bullseye persona and what that dynamic would be between Bullseye and Daredevil."

As if it didn't already hurt enough that Daredevil has been cancelled, eh?

The Marvel TV shows were so hit and miss, though, it wouldn't have been at all surprising if season four hadn't put Bullseye in a suit...or Daredevil for that matter! That's something which would have really disappointed fans as Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb appears to be totally removed from what viewers want to see (look no further than Inhumans for proof of that).

They had plenty of time for him to transition to Bullseye in season 3, but they wasted it.

@Spock0Clock - In all fairness, the writers probably wanted to establish the man before creating the monster. I don't think they knew that season 3 would be their last chance with Bullseye.

I wish they would have had him be Bullseye at the end of season 3. But could he really carry a whole season himself as the main villain? Seeing as we've already seen his origin and there might not be 13 episodes worth of good material with him.

@Nightwing1015 - And they've already used Purple Man on JJ and wasted Typhoid Mary on Iron Fist, so DD was kind of running out of villains to adapt. Mr. Fear would've been interesting.
