DAREDEVIL Star Charlie Cox Believes The Man Without Fear Will Be Recast By Marvel Studios

Daredevil and The Defenders star Charlie Cox has shared his thoughts on why he believes the Man Without Fear is going to be recast by Marvel Studios when the hero returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As of right now, we have no idea what the future holds in store for characters like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After they appeared in the Netflix shows, they're off-limits for at least two years, but fans remain anxious to see the same actors reprise those roles on the big screen (or on Disney+).

During a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Daredevil star Charlie Cox followed up on those recent Spider-Man 3 comments by explaining that he thinks Marvel Studios might be better off recasting.

"I think the likelihood is, I think you'll definitely see Daredevil again," Cox told the site. "I just think the best bet for them, in the unlikely nature of being able to get all of us together again, it should be a whole new team, and, you know, start again. You know, why not? And, they do it with Spider-Man all the time. I keep consuming that stuff 'cause I love it."

A reboot might not be the worst idea at this stage, but it would be a real shame to lose the actor as the Man Without Fear. He was superb in the role, and Cox went on to explain why getting actors to return for TV shows is so different to how things work in the film industry.

"[When] you make a television show, it's so complicated, and people's schedules are so difficult, and contracts are so difficult," he said. "So that's why when, as an actor, when you sign onto a TV show, you sign six years of your life away. Because, if you don't do that, it becomes too complicated to try and get all these moving pieces."

Time will tell what the future holds in store for this version of Daredevil, but you can find out when he and the rest of the Defenders are returning to the MCU by clicking right HERE for details!

Charlie Cox was never going to be in a Spider-Man movie directed by Jon Watts. His Spider-Man movies and that show are on two different wavelengths.

@regularmovieguy - A shame, he was fantastic. It is what it is. MCU's gonna have a tough time having to recast both Cox and Jackman soon.

@TheJustinHammer - Yeah, feels more like a logistics issue and a division between Loeb/Feige's intentions.

I just don’t think Charlie Cox’s DD would mesh with the tone. If he was Matt Murdock, maybe I could see it.

And I would love to see CC in the MCU. Like @tmp3 said it is a damn shame

@TheJustinHammer

I mean he used a chain in that gif I posted. I think that was the stairs scene from season 2. He doesn’t exactly kill and maim during his fights but they’re not exactly Spidey friendly.

Them fighting alongside each other would be weird. Not to mention Spidey has been relying on another hero since he came to the MCU. Dude needs to be solo again.

Focus more on his world and his problems - not what does Tony Stark think of me or I’ll never be the next Iron Man.

Would be cool to have CC’s DD in the MCU but I just never saw it happening in these movies. The Netflix deal, the Spidey movies themselves. Just didn’t see it.

Maybe I am assuming too much. It’s just hard for me to see their worlds blending in...could just be a blind spot for me.

I just see DD’s world as this gritty, kind of no hope place. And then Spider-Man is kind of all sunshine and rainbows. Idk.

@regularmovieguy - Ehh, you could say the Miller/Bendis Daredevil lives in a gritty, no hope place but the Mark Waid Daredevil's all sunshine and rainbows. I think he's malleable enough as a character to fit in. Don't think it'll happen, but it's possible.

Defenders MCU fan-cast:
Ryan Gosling - Daredevil
Rooney Mara - Jessica Jones
Yahya Abdul Matteen II - Luke Cage
Jon Hamm - The Punisher (it'd be old man Punisher at this point though, lol)

@tmp3 - John Hamm for white Nick Fury

@tmp3

Your fancasts are some of the best 😱👌🏻

tmp3 - 5/1/2020, 3:44 AM
@Kevwebsz - Honestly, they should do a Jim Steranko-inspired Fury D+ show, set it in the 70s with a young, up-and-coming actor. Go all out on the imagery, maybe get Jodorowsky behind the lens

@regularmovieguy - Not when I fan-cast Chalamet as something, lol. I think I had an Adam Driver Superman fan-cast that no-one liked either, haha

@RageCipher - Oh wait, I had Billy Magnussen as Iron Fist too. Forgot to put that there

@tmp3

Hahaha. Dude Chalamet would’ve killed it in any role. Spider-Man, Cyclops idc.

Adam Driver as Superman I’m less inclined to dig. See him more as Lex Luthor-type.

@regularmovieguy - It doesn't matter either way, looks like most people don't even agree with me here. Haha. Guess you can't always get fan-casts that people other than you dig.

I’ll distract them by suggesting Paul Rudd for Frank Castle

To be honest I don't think we will see Daredevil anytime soon. Seems like Marvel Studios is prioritizing other characters first
GodHercules20
GodHercules20 - 5/1/2020, 4:07 AM
@MalseMarcel - They have the X-MEN. They won't even think about using Daredevil
Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 5/1/2020, 4:12 AM
@GodHercules20 - X-Men will definitely take up a lot of their time, but even if they want to do something with a street-level vigilante, they're going to be putting that effort into Moon Knight, I'm sure. And if they do want something legal-system related, they've got She-Hulk in the wings, too.

There's not much Daredevil himself brings to the table that can't be done by some other character they've got waiting in the wings (except name recognition, but even that is double-edged).
tmp3
tmp3 - 5/1/2020, 4:16 AM
@Spock0Clock - Well, Moon Knight and She-Hulk aren't gonna frequently have the shit kicked out of them. So... that's a USP.

He's almost certainly going to be recast. And while I hope the MCU can somehow find someone as good or even better in the role (if such a thing is even possible), it doesn't take away the amazing job Cox did with it. (Please press play and pay respects with me in gif form.)

Too bad for Charlie, I liked his Dare Devil.
I would guess he’s already been told he won’t be playing The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen for the MCU.
It’s a shame because those Netflix characters are all decent and wouldn’t need another origin story if they stuck with the Netflix actors... ooor at least just keep Devil, Cage and Castle

@slickrickdesigns - Mike Colter was an awful Luke Cage. No swagger, attitude or personality.
