DAREDEVIL Star Charlie Cox Responds To Cancellation: "There’s A Chance I Won’t Be Playing Matt Murdock Again"

The news that Daredevil was being canceled after just three seasons was obviously very disappointing for fans of the show, but it was also a huge blow to the cast and crew of the Marvel series who had no idea that the axe was coming and had already begun to discuss plans for season 4.
While chatting to EW about the cancellation for the first time, star Charlie Cox admitted that he was not ready to say goodbye to The Man Without Fear. “A lot of us really expected to keep going, and I certainly did,” the British actor told the site. “The truth is, I felt like we had a lot of stories to tell, and although I understand [the cancellation], I’m very saddened by that."
Marvel has confirmed that Daredevil will return in some capacity - be it in a new TV series on Disney+ or on the big screen - but that doesn't mean that Cox will reprise the role.
“It’s just how business works. But also, these characters mean a lot to people. It’s weird to think there’s a chance I won’t be playing Matt Murdock ever again. That’s a bizarre feeling, because that character has been such a huge part of my life for the last four and a half years.”
Hopefully Cox will get the opportunity to suit-up as the Devil of Hell's Kitchen again, because he'd certainly be game to. “Oh my God, yeah,” he replied when asked if he'd seize the chance to return to the role. “I don’t know how this would happen, but maybe one day we could pick up the baton and do it again.”
