Bernthal was seen today at Hypno Comics in Ventura, California doing some research on Frank Castle. Some of the titles Bernthal is researching include “Born” and “Punisher Max”. The Walking Dead and Fury actor was nice enough to pose with the store's owner and even signed his first of many Punisher comics.

Marvel recently announced that Jon Bernthal would be playing the role of Frank Castle/The Punisher in season 2 of Netflix's Daredevil.  Bernthal was seen today at Hypno Comics in Ventura, California doing some research on Frank Castle.   Some of the titles Bernthal is seen researching include “Born” and “Punisher Max”.

The Walking Dead and Fury actor was nice enough to pose with the store's owner and even signed his first of many Punisher comics.  It's good to know that Bernthal is doing the necessary research that will help him bring Frank Castle to life.

In Season 2 of Marvel/Netflix's impressive and critically acclaimed series Daredevil,  "Bernthal will portray The Punisher, one of Marvel’s most popular characters. He is a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results."

If you're really a Punisher fan, you know this story arc is more important than Circle of Blood or any of the Garth Ennis books.

I am starting to wonder is Marvel can actually make a bad casting decision for a major character?

Now they just needa start getting better writers and directors to utilize this actors to the fullest.

ALSO, good picks for some Punisher reading. Max was probably the best shit for him ever.

Will this punisher be a marine, like an Afghan war vet, a cop or maybe an ex SHIELD agent? If he's just a cop, I never liked that version of him because it doesn't give him the necessary and badass skills to be a one man army. Now if he's a war vet who became a cop and was exposed to HK corruption in the force, that I can get with

marine would be nice. But since we are talking about streets of Hell Kitchen they could make him young cop. It all depends if his family is already dead or not. Because if they are - he could just stop by to Hell's Kitchen to punish people.

also ... i think the army backround would better fit the character than just police academy. It would make him more believable once he starts taking out some criminal organizations.

I'm hoping he's a War Vet, I think it would be awesome if they had some flashbacks to Castle in War too, with influence from the "Born" arc. Can't wait for Season 2!!

Next, if we hear News that Sofia Boutella is Elektra.... My mind will be completely blown

I want a war vet. If they do this right they can explore some very relevant and topical ideas concerning the challenges many of our vets are experiencing when they return home. a renegade cop would be a poor choice with the public current view of the police.

I've read 'The Punisher: Born'. It was a really good read. It has two points of views that shows Frank Castle's psyche from the first and third-person.

Very cool! Love to see actors/actresses doing this kind of stuff with fans. Finally got around to seeing Fury last night. As depressing as that movie was, Bernthal did good as always. Can't wait to see him in costume.

this issue is from 1989 (note that it's the same year Dolp's Punisher was released) and Rocky 4 is from 1985. I think the idea of the story for this issue could came from Rocky 4 movie. The author might know that Dolph is gonna play Frank and recognize him from box match with Stallone. Still ... it's just a thought.
