Kevin Feige Confirms That The MCU Will Reference DAREDEVIL & Other Marvel TV Shows

We've had quite a few Marvel Cinematic Universe references in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Daredevil, but as of yet no Marvel movie has returned the favor. Well, Kevin Feige thinks it's only a matter of time before that happens, and hopes to see some character crossovers, too...

If you're a Marvel TV fan you'll have picked up several nods to the major events in the likes of The Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Soldier in Daredevil and Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., and that will no doubt continue as Netflix gears up to unleash Jessica Jones and the rest of its small screen output in the buildup to The Defenders - but will we ever see the reverse happen?

During a Q&A promoting the home video release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that was "inevitable," but it was all a matter of getting the schedules in line.

"I think that's inevitable at some point as we're plotting the movies going forward and they're doing the shows. It's easier for them. They're more nimble and faster and produce things quicker than we do, which is one of the main reasons you see the repercussions of Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron in the show. Going forward and certainly as they begin to do more shows and cast them with such great actors as they have -- particularly Daredevil -- that that may occur. A lot of it is by the time we start doing a movie, they'd be midway through a season; by the time it comes out they'd be done with the second, starting the third season. Finding timing on that is not always easy."


Several characters from the MCU have made appearances on Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. - such as Nick Fury and Lady Sif - but thus far we've yet to see any significant TV heroes or villains show up on the big screen. Most fans assume that's only a matter of time of course, but nothing is set in stone.

Still, Feige definitely seems to like the idea, and when one reporter used the example of Vincent D'Onforio's Kingpin possibly going up against the Webhead in a solo Spider-Man flick, he replied: "I don't know, probably. That would probably be the cool thing to do. That particular scenario has not come up yet."

If this makes sense, I'd like shows like AOS to reference the movies but NOT be referenced by the movies, where as I'd like the Netflix shows to reference the movies AND be referenced by the movies.

Right on, I feel the same, referencing the MCU on AOS is cool, but I feel like that's as far as it should go, but with the Netflix shows, I want both, I would love to hear Ben Urich mentioned in the MCU or something like that, Kingpin, etc.... and I like hearing MCU references on Netflix shows too....

Kingpin in a Spidey solo is a must. D'Onofrio absolutely killed the role, and quickly became one of the MCU's top 3 villains. He's a well known actor through both TV and movies, and can easily crossover. The only thing that worries me is the violence level of this Kingpin may be too much for a Spider-Man movie.

To the people asking if there was a doubt... yes, there was. Feige has often said he didn't hate or dislike the TV shows, but his mind works in a cinematic way. A "big picture" guy, if you will. When he took the cinematic corner away from Perlmutter, who still has say over the TV corner, it was up in the air if the two corners would ever converge in any meaningful way.

Wait a second, I'm a little confused... hasn't this kinda already started? Hasn't a few of the heads of Hydra who first appeared on Agents of SHIELD pop up in Age of Ultron (albeit non-speaking cameos), or had they already been established in the MCU prior?

Characters or events from AOS should be referenced in the movies too since the show has the most tie ins with movies of any show and Coulson is still very much tied to both Hill and Fury.

After all, they provided the hellicarrier for AOU. Ignoring them doesn't make sense when the movies have so much relevance in the show. It kinda of discredit the continuity they establish when they borrow things from AOS but yet ignore things that happend in the show;

Plus AOS introduced the Inhumans before the movie's out and a comic character who was also an avenger in the comics. Plus Daisay Jonhson is the very first female superhero with powers that was introduced on screen even before Scarlett Witch.

Ignoring the show that has the most tie in and that will end up with the most episode just because some don't like it is counterproductive and doesnrt make sense.

Either they are part of the MCU or they are not. We don't ignore events from under par movie, we shouldn't ignore wat is happening in AOS, which has become a legit show more than a year ago !

The only cons to these tv characters appearing in other MCU flicks is how they'll be possibly written differently. Just imagine the "Vacation" writers getting their hands on Kingpin. lol *shivers* these movie writers should also pay very close attention to what's going on with these characters outside of their own films.

Kingpin should definitely be the big bad in at least one Spidey film (maybe all four?). So far, Spider-Man hasn't fought organized crime on the big screen, so it would be a big change from the previous two franchises' supervillain focus. It would be challenging for Spider-Man to solve, highlight the real threat to his loved ones if his identity were discovered, and allow Black Cat to show up. It would also make sense for Kingpin: having been kicked out of Hell's Kitchen by Daredevil, he can set up shop in more high-end parts of New York. They wouldn't even have to do the same level of violence and grit, because Spider-Man would be in a better part of the city.

IT BOTHERS ME THAT ALL OF THE AVNGERS HAVE NO CLUE THAT COULSEN IS AIVE AND HES RUNNING AROUND THE WORLD OUT IN THE OPEN. WIDOW THROUGH HER CONNECTIONS WOULD KNOW, THOR WITH HIEMDALL WOULD KNOW, BANNER DOESN'T CARE AND CAP AND FALCON WOULD HAVE TO HEAR SOMTHING ABOUT COULSEN LEADING AN UNDERGROUND SHIELD CREW.........RIGHT ????????????

QUESTION: DO YOU THINK IT IS POSSIBLE FOR MARVEL TO PULL OFF BRINGING ALL OF THERE MCU TOGETHER TO BATTLE THANOS IN THE INFINITY WAR MOVIES I.E. AVENGERS, DR STRANGE, SPIDER MAN, THE DEFENDERS, CAPTAIN MARVEL, GOTG, AGENTS OF SHIELD, BLACK PANTHER, ASGARD AND THE WORRIORS THREE.
