Marvel Releases Official Concept Art Of DAREDEVIL'S Red Costume

Our first glimpse of Charlie Cox suited up in his red Daredevil costume drew a mixed response from fans, but after seeing him in action in the final episode of the brilliant Netflix series they seemed to warm to it for the most part. The Man Without Fear may well sport a different look again when he returns for his second season, but until then we have a look at some awesome concept art from Marvel's go-to poster/concept designer Ryan Meinerding, who worked with the likes of Rodney Fuentebella, Andy Park, Joe Quesada, Jackson Sze, Josh Nizzi, and Anthony Francisco to come up with outfit that suited the "grounded, street-level tone of the series."

“The tone that was really communicated was the sense of realism that they were going for,” Meinerding relates to Marvel.com. “I think the way that [manifested itself in] the costume was through the armor and making it feel a little bit more padded than you traditionally think of Daredevil being. When we do these designs, there’s a concept of grounded and a concept of reality. The grounded nature that they brought to the vigilante costume was the simplicity and effectiveness, because you’re trying to conceal your identity but also [have to be] mobile enough to fight."

There's much more at the link below. Were you happy with how Daredevil's look turned out, or do you hope for some alterations to the costume for season 2?

I hope for a much more streamlined design next season. The black on the costume makes it look clunky in some areas and less consistent in others. I also hope for a DD logo and a better mask.

I do still enjoy it, however.

The costume has gas grown on me and I like it alot. Just want the logo and the neck area fixed. should be right and firm fitting and less cloth like. Also think the helmet would be cool with a strap like Cap has on his

I think it's cool how much the style of the helmet resembles Cap's from The Avengers. There's a nice bit of visual continuity there.

This guy has to show up on the big screen. Him and D'Nofrio...

Great Portrayal of both Kingpin and Murdock.

Conor art does always look cooler than the real thing. I thibk the nose should be covered a little bit more. Cox has a protruding nose haha

The main complaint is that he does not have the DD on the chest but at this point he was not known as Daredevil until the papers called hims so. 100% sure next season he will be sporting it. Fantastic show.

Actually out of everything in this show, the suit was the only negative I really had. I just hope we get a costume more akin to the classic red Daredevil costume in season 2

@YeezusWept

to me, it came off as the Russo's Cap cap and the Arkham origins batman cowl.

Gives me hope for BP. Like the actual costume looks identical to the concept art so um praying they do the same with BP.
Also how can you complain about the DD not being there he wasn't named till after the suit was made lol just wait for season two you turkeys.

The art is really great! I like the suit but not really digging the black parts, especially around the neck. As for the "DD" it's logical we didn't see it.
But hey, it's details, for sure we're going to see other versions.

What Daredevil run is Mr. Fear in? I've read all the Frank Miller stuff and the Brian Michael Bendis run. Is he in the Brubaker run? Because I haven't seen a single Daredevil comic with Mr. Fear in it yet!

I didn't mind the red suit. It wouldn't be on my top 10 favorite superhero costumes, but the series did an excellent job of contextualizing that suit for the show.
I don’t think they’ll change the suit much in the next season. At most, the DD symbol will be probably be attached to the suit, just like Arrow finally got his domino mask in his second season.

Daredevil was great but the red suit was kind of meh.
I hope they improve it for season two.
The only great suits in the MCU are the CGI ones like Hulk or Iron Man.
The other ones like Cap or Hawkeye suck, they don't look like superheroes.
That's one thing DC/Warner did well, Superman looks like a [frick]ing superhero, so does Batman based on the BvS trailer.

True. Thank god they pulled off a two-piece helmet better than Cap in Avengers. That cowl still gives me night terrors.
