Marvel Television's final series, Hit-Monkey, is now streaming on Hulu. If that's news to you, it's probably because the promotion for the animated show has been pretty much nonexistent - no great surprise when this is another of those shows Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had no involvement with.
Like M.O.D.O.K., we're expecting Hit-Monkey to be a one-and-done series, though a few noteworthy Marvel Comics characters like Silver Samurai, Fat Cobra, and Lady Bullseye will appear. However, during a recent interview with Murphy's Multiverse, showrunners Will Speck and Josh Gordon confirmed that Marvel Studios stopped them from using the Bullseye.
"Bullseye was in the original issues of Hit-Monkey and that was who we originally thought we would use but for various reasons, we couldn’t," they explained. "But Marvel offered us Lady Bullseye instead and we thought, ‘Wow. That’s so much more interesting since she’s a character we haven’t seen much of yet.’ We were thrilled that we got that pivot."
With the stage being set for Marvel Studios to start making use of Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock as soon as December's Spider-Man: No Way Home, it's not exactly suprising to hear that a villain as noteworthy as Bullseye was off-limits. In the past, the studio stopped Marvel Television from making use of characters like Johnny Blaze and M.O.D.O.K. in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Wilson Bethel played Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter in the third and final season of Daredevil, and the response from fans was overwhelmingly positive. By the time the show ended, the stage had been set for him to become Bullseye, and the MCU could easily introduce him as a full-blown bad guy.
