Claire Temple didn't play a huge role in season one of Daredevil, but she still proved to be very popular and definitely seemed to resonate with fans. When MTV caught up with Rosario Dawson (Sin City, Top Five) at E3 this week they asked her why she thinks that is, and what we can expect to see from Miss Temple in the future. “She’s funny, she’s wry, she’s strong — she’s built for that world, because she’s great under pressure," Dawson said of her character. "She’s someone — hero or not — you’d want to have in a dire situation… I really just liked her arc all the way through."

Matt Murdock gave Claire a good look at the dark underside of Hell's Kitchen, but also showed her that it's possible to fight back. Is there a chance that Claire could evolve more towards the "Night Nurse" character from the Marvel comics she's been amalgamated with for the show? “I’m looking forward to seeing where that goes, because her eyes have been opened up to this other world — and she’s crossed the line," explains the actress. "You know, this is someone who helps people, and she’s been violent now but seeing the need for it. I think there’s a lot that she’s having to grapple with, and I think that’s what’s exciting about using this show to explore street-level characters: it makes it that much more closer to us.”

One of the most popular and exciting casting announcements came last week when we found out that Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead) would be playing Frank Castle in season 2 of Daredevil, and Dawson is looking forward to seeing him in action as much as the rest of us. With the inclusion of The Punisher bound to shake things up considerably, how does she see the dynamic with Charlie Cox's Man Without Fear playing put? “That’s going to raise the stakes so much more, because Matt Murdock almost behaves like the Punisher in the first season,” she said. “[Matt] crosses the line quite often, so it’s going to be really interesting to see how they differentiate them and where that goes.”

In the comics Claire Temple also has a relationship with Luke Cage, and with that character set to get his own series along with the likes of Jessica Jones, could Temple become a kind of Nick Fury of the Marvel TV Universe? Find put what she has to say about that at the link below.

This season is going to be bananas. Can't wait to see the new DD duds, and, Bernthal is going to own as Punisher - that, I have no doubts about. This Netflix Marvel world is wonnderful. I wish/hope AoS team takes some cues from them. Hell, I hope they move AoS to Netflix.

Maybe not for season 2, but I still believe Owlsely's son is going to be "The Owl" of the MCU. He got way to many references to be completely irrelevant. There's going to be a power vacuum in the NYC underworld after the Kingpin fell, and I've got to believe a really twisted interpretation of Leland Jr. is in play.



Part of me wants Brian Posehn for it, and have him turn out to be this ultra creepy death metal head psychopath that eats rats to freak people out.

She was great!!! Cant wait for more of her. Her passion for the characters and story is so cool. She really seems to understand the dichotomy between Punisher and Daredevil.

My only major problem with season one was them killing off Urich. I get WHY they did it, but the guy had so much potential to become a liaison between the movie and TV universes etc. I think Kingpin putting him in hospital or maybe even killing his wife in her hospital bed (horrible I know but it would have seemed like justice to him given Ben visited his sick mother) would have achieved the same thing and we'd still have a great character for season 2.

I loved her character in the series. Looking forward to seeing more of her. I think its possible that she might cameo in other Netflix/Marvel shows, i.e. Luke Cage.

She was great in her role as Claire. The dialogue between her and Matt was great, they had what seemed to be real chemistry. I can't wait to see what she brings to season 2.

And I take your's, as well. The best part of Daredevil for me was the time they could spend with the characters (and the freedom to ignore characters that didn't have a whole lot of relevance to the plot for an episode or two). I hope Daredevil is able to keep their show somewhat restrained and focused, instead of exploding outward like SHIELD did (but that's a different conversation).

The Netflix universe will already be getting Jones and her supporting cast, Cage and his supporting cast, and Iron Fist and his supporting cast. Assuming minimal crossovers, that's already some heavy duty world-building right there.

Agreed. Urich was great (even when his storyline wasn't). And it's a shame he won't be there to potentially tie together the movie Daily Bugle and Jessica Jones' show, and just to generally provide some expository presence. Urich was a guy that realistically could have been an objective POV for the movie events and their impact on the broader world, rather than just an "everyman's" response. More than just a joke about a magic hammer or a reference to "the Incident".

I could easily imagine an episode of Jessica Jones that is just Urich doing an interview / ride-along with her for a piece about "Heroes Among Us" or something as a way to do the heroic flashbacks and set up the Purple Man. Maybe they can still fill that role with Betty Brant or even someone else entirely, but Urich was already perfectly fleshed out for that purpose.

I'm still bummed about Ben Urich's death. The character is such a solid part of DD in comics & the actor was great.
I suppose it could just mean that aside from DD himself,it's his show..no one is safe & could die in Hell's Kitchen.

The Punisher will make sure many more deaths are soon to arrive...heh-heh!

By the way, I love those. Just everything out of Ant-Man and the fan response has been so playful and fun, it's a real breath of fresh air compared to pretty much everything else. Even Avengers and Guardians took itself relatively seriously (Guardians at least on an emotional level), but Ant-Man embracing the absurd is just so heartwarming for me. It's almost Pixar-ish.

I've never liked Dawson...

But this show made me a huge fan!

So much so, that the only gripe I had was that they rarely used Claire.

I really hope they use her relationship with Luke Cage in the comics. Maybe they're exes. So Claire's mad because of Matt rekindling a flame with his ex (Elektra) and vice versa, Claire's ex being Luke.

Damn. She knows her shit. I've been thinking about Murdock's PUNISHER-Like approach and what that means for his character when the Punisher actually shows up. I can't believe she recognized that and spoke on it. She's absolutely on point with that. PUNISHER has to push the envelope on fighting crime and Daredevil must be limited to allow PUNISHER'S characteristics to flourish. Murdock must be opposed to Castles methods now, after kicking much ass on his own.

If I remember correctly, a criminal finished himself off by forcing his own head on a spike or something. I don't remember Daredevil being pleased by that. That, will be the difference. Damn. Punisher's getting his own show.

We know eventually Karen & possibly Elektra are going to end up dead.
It's going to be interesting to see how & when the show will handle those ladies deaths.

SPOILER for non-comic readers: Bullseye killing Elektra is a must but how it plays out needs to be adapted well.
Don't rush her into show & kill her off quickly. Karen must go fairly soon,making room for Matt & Elektra to rekindle the love.

Perhaps The Punisher will be getting all up inside Elektra & DD gets pissed..the fight begins! Ok,that's not gonna work.
