That Awesome DAREDEVIL Trailer; It Was Hiding A Few Things

Recently, the first proper trailer hit for Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil series and it was awesome! After having watched it a few times and having spotted a few things, I figured the best thing to do would be to share all of it. Hit the jump to check it out...

Firstly, I'd like to say that the recent trailer for Daredevil has convinced me that this may well be the greatest comic book show of all time, right up there with The Flash. With that said and accounted for, I'll move ahead to the topic at hand, and that topic is: EASTER EGGS! Yes, like most Marvel trailers, there were a few Easter eggs  dotted around that Daredevil trailer and recent cast news has shed light on some of them, as well as recent images from the set. Most of these Easter eggs come from one scene shown in particular, and it's this one:

This is directly after we see Ben Urich staring at a wall with a card in his hand. So obviously he's staring at this wall. What's interesting about the little crime web he has devised here is that each of the cards has something written on it. Some are names, others indicate crimes, like the one labeled "DRUGS". Unsurprisingly, the names pertain to characters that we now know will be in the show based on a recent set report. For example, the names Vladimir and Anatoly appear on the two cards near the centre, characters who are reportedly "two Russian brothers looking to forge a name for themselves in America". If they don't show them bowling at some point, that's a missed opportunity in my books. Although, there is a bowling alley shooting on a newspaper clipping near the bottom of the image.

Something else that's rather intriguing is that one card has the name Farnum on it. Funnily enough, Daredevil's landlord and short time villain was named Frank Farnum, AKA The Masked Marauder.

It's possible that he could appear as the villain in the show. After all, this is a show that's teetering towards Civil War with the rest of the MCU and the more characters to exploit for that film the better. Of course, there's also the possibility that we won't see him appear on the show, perhaps he's just another criminal and it is nothing but an Easter egg. When looking at the IMDb page, nobody is listed as being cast as him, so it's safe to assume it is merely a reference, but a very obscure one at that. Another thing I spotted was a card with the name Prohaszka on it, so I gave that a once over in the IMDb listing and a guy named Peter Claymore has been cast as a Mr. Prohaszka. From that, I've drawn the conclusion that that guy is some degree of Russian mobster as he is linked to Vladimir and Anatoly, but he's beneath them, so maybe they're in cahoots? The majority of what's on the crime web relates to Russian and Chinese mob circles, so it's to be expected that due to them all being linked to Kingpin, a mass union is what's being attempted. A crime syndicate, if you will. In the very first teaser, we saw Owelsely in a building under construction with a Chinese woman. That Chinese woman has now been revealed to be Madame Gao, a powerful woman running her own trade. She's an original character. I mentioned a mass union earlier on and that sort of ties in with another thing in the crime web. Union Allied.

As soon as I saw this image and read the poster, I figured this Union Allied corporation would have a sinister presence in the show and the fact they're on the crime web certainly confirmed that for me. Also, the name is somewhat synonymous with what Kingpin is trying to do, which is to create this lovely little crime kingdom in Hell's Kitchen that he rules over. No doubt, on the surface Union Allied will be a benevolent organisation dedicated to restoring Hell's Kitchen after the battle of New York, only to really be a front for the Kingpin's plans, whatever they may be. The image was also posted with the tagline "Helping build a better Hell's Kitchen". If that's not plain eveil, I don't know what is!

Another thing from the trailer that got people talking was the appearance of a red cloaked figure kicking the living snot out of Matt. Speculation is rife as to the motivations and identity of who this may be and what they're all about. Some suggest it's a member of the Hand ninja organisation of which Elektra was once a part. Funnily enough, there's a card in the crime web on the far right that's hanging upside down that says "YAKUZA ?". So, maybe there's a Japanese aspect to this crime union and that Japanese aspect may well be the Hand, but due to their secrecy, the public believes the Yakuza is involved.

That's nearly everything I could pick up on. I made a news article about the fact the truck that spills chemical on Matt is a RAND OIL & CHEMICALS truck, but I dunno if people saw that so I shall link it here. Also, just to mention it, Matt Gerald from the one shot All Hail The King is gonna be in the show, playing villain turned ally Gladiator and on top of that, Rob Morgan has been cast as Turk Barrett, who was a small time crook called Mauler and also had a brief spell as Stilt Man. And there's a card that's ridiculously shiny, but I think it has "MCLINTOCK" written on it. That's basically everything. Let me know what you think and whether you saw something I didn't. How hyped are you for Daredevil? Does the number of possible villain appearances seem like a good or bad thing to you? Tell me down in the comments!

Awesome work and I think it's pretty safe to say that the guy in the red robe is part of The Hand.

I think the flash is still better. I don't like the dark things, just considering I already have to take pills for depression/anxiety I tend to stay away from it.
But being a MCU fan I really want to watch, so I will, even though I'm probably not old enough (according to the rating system over here, at least)

Interesting that there is a king and 4 jacks but no queens or aces?

Also Bullseye is big on playing cards as a weapon.

I love this shit.

Nice finds, but off topic, these bloodborn ads have to go. Everytime I get on a different page on this site, it covers my screen and it's getting damn annoying(especially since I'm on mobile).

Great write up @NovaCorpsFan! Good eye on that stuff.

But, I hate to break it to you, we already have a CBTV show better than the Flash. AoS destroys all right now, but this could compete.

NovaCorpsCenturian has done it again. I do hope the Hand is involved and they don't change them to the yakuza.
