So, I just spent an hour building this article and the work computer lost it all. I will try to be clear with my point, but it may come across kind of short. I will add more to the article as I go. Sorry for the complications.
Daredevil was awesome. That's pretty much an agreeable fact across the board. Just like the fact that people are happy to see Spidey connect with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While that thought may not be s universal after Sony's treatment's of the wall crawler, there is still a lot of excitement brewing.
Two important things happened after Daredevil proved to be a success.
1. Daredevil was announced for a season two to be released BEFORE Luke Cage and Iron Fist, rather than after the Defenders. This move is much like Iron Man 2 coming before Thor and Cap.
2. Charlie Cox announced that his contract includes at least one big screen appearance.
Many people want to see DD in Civil War, or alongside the Avengers, and the latter, at least, is likely to happen, but I think there is a huge opportunity that Marvel has by combining Spider-Man and Daredevil.
Spidey is going to be 15. He is going to be Peter Parker. And Kevin Feige stated that they will be using many villains not yet seen. Kingpin is the biggest link between Spidey and Daredevil. Marvel should take advantage of this.
In interviews, Mike Colter, Charlie Cox, Kevin Feige, among others have continuously toted that the big difference between The Defenders and The Avengers is the scope. Street level versus Earth Avengers. With Parker being so young, I believe they may also start him off with street level, and that if they play their cards right, they could still pull off this Sinister Six thing they missed their shot at.
With Spidey so young and so much fatigue of big level destruction in Comic Book Movies, not to mention the mining of villains we haven't seen yet, I think there is a huge opportunity to have Kingpin put together a team of Spidey's street level rogues which would lead to an amazing team up with Daredevil. By adding this insanely popular character into their new Spider-Man franchise, it will add relevance and connective tissue with the MCU, as well as bring more people down to the Netflix world.
The Sinister Six could work really well, working for Kingpin. There are plenty of villains who would turn out really well that are smaller, street level threats to the teenager who we haven't seen yet and could be very interesting on screen. As long as at least four or five of them weren't used in the last two trials for Spidey, I think this could be really successful.
