Dominique Thorne Wants IRONHEART To Team With ANT-MAN's Cassie Lang

Is a Young Avengers film really off the table at Marvel Studios? If so, there's at least one teammate Dominique Thorne wants Ironheart to join up with on the big screen.

Despite the fact that Ironheart was only created fairly recently in Invincible Iron Man Vol. 3 #7 (May 2016),  it looks as if the Brian Michael Bendis creation might be making a major impact in the MCU, carrying the Iron Man legacy left behind by Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark.

One of the most notable storylines in the comics saw Williams team up with Kate Bishop to form a new iteration of the teenage superhero team, the Young Avengers. However,  Marvel Studios producer Stephen Broussard recently stated that a standalone Young Avengers movie is currently not in the cards for the MCU, so perhaps the team will materialize in a different fashion? It's hard to imagine that the MCU would introduce so many young heroes and fail to bring the next generation of Avengers together in some form or fashion.

Speaking to The Direct, Ironheart actress Dominique Thorne revealed that the Young Avenger she'd most like to see her character team-up with is Cassie Lang. Thorne stated, " I would say maybe Cassie Lang, I’d say. I think the two of them, they’re definitely similar age group, all of that. But Cassie also experienced… We all, obviously, know the loss that Riri has experienced. Or if we don’t, we’ll come to know… It’s how she came to be. And so, Cassie though, in a way that I’m not sure we really have seen yet. But she also experienced loss in a different form with the Blip and all that that meant.

Thorne went on to add, "And to see the glimpses of her sort of taking up her own mantle and going on her own journey, as alluded to from all the [Quantumania] trailers, I think it would be pretty interesting to see how these two young girls from very different backgrounds, very different lifestyles, but of a similar age, and maybe a shared human emotion of loss, to see how they interact and what they do if they were to get together in this very super world of ours.

After appearing in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ironheart is next expected to appear in her own Disney+ series, however, a new report surmises that Marvel Studios will be reducing its TV and film output over the next few years as they try to course-correct what many perceive to be a drop in quality following Avengers: Endgame.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, only Secret Invasion and Loki season 2 are expected to be released in 2023 meaning the earliest Ironheart could debut is 2024.

No thank you. Cassie was annoying as hell unfortunately.

Also, Cassie suddenly being a scientific genius starts to water down the other young geniuses. Is every young person a science wiz now in the MCU?

@GhostDog - When everyone is a scientific genius then nobody is. There is source material basis for Shuri and Riri to have those talents but not Cassie.

rychlec - 2/22/2023, 10:20 AM
@GhostDog - Especially weird because she's SCOTT'S kid... not a Pym or vanDyne. Scott had no idea about even the slightest science aspect until 10 years later. Make the character earn it. She didn't have to be the one to invent the thing.

@rychlec - apparently she earned it off screen. that would be a horribly boring three hour movie watching Cassie learn from hank and Janet. people can learn shit ya know. i mean look at all the shitty little geniuses tearing up the internet now with their viruses and malware. imagine if that tech was real the world would have imploded literally because some little asshole tinkering with shit

@GhostDog - its far more interesting than having them be your typical hormone infused pimple puss bag of a teenager. there has to be something that makes them special and stand out to want to put on these suits and go do selfless shit vs get high and [frick] everything that moves in high school
GhostDog
GhostDog - 2/22/2023, 10:30 AM
@rychlec - yup it was unearned. It just sort of happened. Why was she the one who had to have built it? It added nothing.

@mountainman - exactly. There is no basis for Cassie being a scientific savant. And even if you consider the fact that yes sometimes character changes/characteristic insertions can be add to a character, but this feels like a lazy attempt to give her depth or an interesting talent without trying. She just sat in the basement and figured out quantum technology.

This movie should've been fertile ground for a family story about parents and kids reconnecting.

@GhostDog - Agreed. I get that there is a big push for more women to get into STEM fields, and rightly so, but you make the female scientific geniuses less special when there are so many of them.

The likelihood of any teenager being a scientific genius is very low. Now we have 3 of them of the less than 10 featured young women in the MCU? Come on.

Can I get instead a Deadpool/Spider-Man, Daredevil/Spider-Man, Hulk/Wolverine or Spider-Man/Fantastic 4 team-up? Ironheart is such a pointless character, they should stop trying to make her a thing. People like Iron Man, not cheap knock-offs.

@Urubrodi - she was well-received in the film, so gotcha!

@NegativeNerd - That's news to me, almost everyone I talked to couldn't care less about her. To me the character was forced into the movie. Didn't know she had so many "fans".

Wouldn't mind seeing the young heroes team up either. With Riri, Cassie, Kate, Yelena, Kamela, America and Peter there are enough to form a team.

Marvel is becoming such a joke introducing all of these younger, annoying Avengers.

I do have to give them credit for Ant-Man Quantumania though... Cassie became the most annoying of them all QUICk.

@CaptainDC - She was annoying. The actor was fine but the material was pretty mediocre all around. When she was arrested for protesting, I knew I was in for a bumpy ride.

Yes. Let's make a movie with two annoying Mary Sues that absolutely no one will want to see. Victoria Alonso just flushing what's let of Feige's reputation down the toilet.

@AnthonyVonGeek - I just don't get why we get all the obnoxious women in the mcu.

Like seriously, Scott saved all the universe, and Cassie is complaining he's not CURRENTLY doing anything? And the movie makes her right?
