There have been rumors that Marvel may be planning to introduce a trans character in one of the studio's upcoming Phase 4 projects doing the rounds for some time now, and it looks like we may have confirmation that this is indeed on the cards.

It doesn't appear as if it's going to happen on the big screen, though! According to the guys over at The Illuminerdi, Sera will debut in the Disney+ Loki series.

In the comics, Sera is part of a group of male, wingless Angels known as the Anchorites. But she identifies as female, making her the first (and, so far, only) major trans woman character in Marvel Comics. The casting description calls for a male/female between 20-40 to play a strong supporting character in all 6 episodes, with options for a second season.

Of course, Sera might also make her way to the big screen at some point. As Valkyrie's new Queen in Thor: Love and Thunder, perhaps?

Loki is expected to start shooting very soon, so hopefully we'll get more details on this over the next few weeks.

@kirbyfan - If this really bothers you you've got problems. Also, you're overusing the term PC. Transgender isn't.....politically correct. That just doesn't even make sense.

There's nothing wrong with giving representation to a marginalised group. This is one character in one TV show in an expansive 12-year-old multimedia universe.

@kirbyfan - I mean at least this is a character that is trans in the comics instead of forcing a different established character to fit an agenda. I will always be for promoting existing and new characters over altering a core of a character's history in order to check boxes.

So as long as the story is done well and the character is interesting outside of just the trans label then I'm all good. Diversity in itself isn't bad it's forced diversity over the focus of story and good characterization and character development.

@kirbyfan - agreed. trying to make less than a quarter of a single percent of viewers happy. accepting a mental illness. Disney will lose more viewers if this is true. I hope Loki fails if they allow this. They lost me as a viewer if they allow this.

I don't mind if it's a straight white guy or a transgender one-armed purple skinned Goth on a unicycle. If it's a well written character, I'm in.

@Darkknight2149 - This. And ffs make teh character FLAWED, it's what makes them interesting!! Just because you're trying to make the cast "diverse" doesn't mean every new "diverse" character must be a flawless Mary Sue/Gary Stu!
